Duffle Bags & Bibles for Foster Children For 13 years, SC WMU has collected duffle bags & Bibles for foster children. When a child is removed from their home, they are given a trash bag to pack in. They often leave with nothing and are thrust into a stranger's home and have to cope! SC WMU & Pickens-12 Mile wants to let them know someone cares. If you want to help too, please follow these instructions: Purchase a DUFFLE BAG with multiple compartments, handles, & a shoulder strap. NO BACKPACKS! Purchase a Bible appropriate for a child or youth. It's not necessary but you can add any other items you want such as: school supplies, toothbrush/paste, soap, washcloth, pillowcase, snacks (no nuts or peanut butter), etc.

• Please bring your donations to the associational office or call Carol Dickard 864-423-4321 for pickup!

From the DOM:

It is time for school to start and we can be salt and light as we work together to support them. There are several ways to do that. On August 12 the pastors were invited to prayer walk the Pickens area schools. This is a great reflection on our local schools. If you contact your local school, you might be pleasantly surprised how often they will have a need with which you can help them. What a reflection of Christ to help our children and youth! You might even find that those teachers might enjoy a special treat for the teacher workroom or an extra pair of hands on special events in their classrooms. This naturally has to be done through the principal, but a visit or call would probably be appreciated. This works for parents, grandparents, or those who just love to be of assistance. Check with your sports teams, band, or other organizations.

The Moldova trip in August to celebrate 20 years of services in the church that many people in PTMBA helped to build was very encouraging to them but also to us. Many of the children that some of you taught are now the leaders of the church, professors in the seminary, and parents who are bringing their children to the church to worship. Spreading the Word as you walk and wherever you walk is not an option but a command.

Thank you for all you do in your Jerusalem. Blessings, Ron and Jane Duncan

GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO HELP UCM

UCM has been given a great opportunity to partner with Foothills Playhouse during their first play of the new season, “Smoke on the Mountain Homecoming.” This is the third play in the Sanders family saga and it should be great fun! If you saw “Sanders Family Christmas” you know you are in for a treat!

UCM is selling $15 vouchers ($2 less than box office price) that can be redeemed at the Playhouse Box Office for a ticket to any of the 6 remaining shows of the play (weekends Aug. 16-18 and Aug. 23-25). For every voucher sold, UCM will receive five dollars! In addition, UCM’s upcoming “Feet for Heat 5k Run” scheduled for Oct. 5th will be promoted in the opening remarks prior to each show and with a playbill insert as well. Definitely a win-win for both UCM & the Playhouse! For more information visit Foothills Playhouse website at Contact Teresa @ 864-855-0853, ext. 33
