?GRADE 8 PROJECT 2: SURVIVALThis project is composed of a series of Survival Themed assignments that relate to your classes (Math, Science, Phys. Ed., ELA, Art/Band) at school. You will be practicing academic skills and learning some new ones as you imagine yourself stranded in the Canadian Wilderness. Each document is a different assignment. In this section, you will be practicing your creative writing skills.SURVIVAL – ELA – CREATIVE WRITINGYou are stranded in the Canadian Wilderness. Help is on the way – you will be rescued in 7 days! Tell the story of how you became stranded. Did you wander off too far berry picking with your Granny? Were you on a plane going to a tropical paradise, when there was engine problems? Were you on a road-trip that took a serious wrong turn? Up to you to decide! Regardless of how you got there, in your story, you must clearly describe your setting – where you are, what you see, what you hear. You may need to do an independent research on the regions of Canada to be able to write in detail about your location. Or maybe you want to base your story on your own experience in the bush, here in Manitoba. 182880022923500Criteria for success:Your story is logical (it makes sense).Your sentences are complete. You use punctuation. You describe your setting (where) and use sensory details (what you see, smell, hear, touch, taste). You organize your story into paragraphs. You have proofread your story to ensure all of the above!Looking for some inspiration? Phone a grandparent or family member who lives off the land. Ask them to share some experiences with you. Lost their number? Try a podcast! Use the search word ‘survival’ and see if you can find an interesting one! Search up The Gimli Glider on YouTube. Otherwise, there are a lot of neat videos on YouTube on how to survive. Ask your teacher if you need specific recommendations! ................
