Cover Car - Susie & Dale Roberts' 2013 427 Corvette Convertible

Dale recently read an article that Chevrolet had finally produced a 427 convertible. I had waited almost five years for the right inspiration to get a second Corvette, and so the dreaming began.

I came from a Corvette family, having learned to drive a stick in my parents 1967 427 Corvette Stingray. My parents, Bob and Peggy Michajla purchased the Vette in 1967 and all three of us kids drove the Lyndale Blue coupe. Bob and Peggy were members of CMCS until Bobs passing at age 83 in 2007. The car was sold and now resides in Kansas.

Our C4, a 1996 Polo Green Coupe was sold to an acquaintance who loves it and keeps it inside until the sun comes out.

The legacy that I carried and the link to my past was the 427. The possibility of owning another Vette prompted me to call Dennis and Lorrie Montgomery to see if they could recommend any Corvette salespeople. Lorrie said to contact Joe at Speedway, but a week went by, and Dale and I just talked about the possibility. Then Joe called and left a message. Dennis and Lorrie had seen Joe and recommended he call because they had that sparkling Arctic White 427 convertible in the showroom. About three weeks later, a deal was struck, and PURE 427 had a new home. Thanks Dennis and Lorrie!

We are previous members of CMCS and are happy to be members again. I will be taking an Autocross course soon to learn to handle the 505 hp and 13 wide rear tires, quite different from the previous driving experiences with the 1967 and 1996 Corvettes. My brother has a yellow 1958 Corvette which is kept in Chelan so the Corvette legacy that my dad started continues on.

We are looking forward to getting re- acquainted and meeting newer CMCS members.

Respectfully submitted,

Susie Roberts

A View Through

The Split Window

by President Stan Trask

February was a very busy month for CMCS with Officer Elections, Wet Weekend and the Puyallup Corvette & High Performance Swap Meet. I would like to personally thank all of the CMCS volunteers who gave their time to help at the Swap Meet with the Valve Cover Races and to help promote CMCS to the general public at our booth. Once again, due to your efforts and diligence, CMCS showed everyone in attendance what a great club it is! As we come to the close of another year for CMCS, as your President I would like to thank all of the Board and Committee members who gave their time to help make CMCS a better club for all. You all made a difference this last year and through your efforts made my job much easier and for that, you have my sincere gratitude and heartfelt thanks! As we turn the calendar to March, we inch closer and closer to spring and I'm confident that clear sunny "Corvette Days" are just ahead! Please mark your calendars now to attend our March General Meeting & Officer Installation Banquet to be held on Saturday, March 9th at the Old Spaghetti Factory at Southcenter. There will be a great buffet meal followed by our General Meeting and Installation of new Officers for the coming year. Please come out and help say thank you to those individuals leaving the Board and show your support for the new officers coming on the Board. Also in March you will have a couple more opportunities to get out on Saturday morning, have breakfast and talk all things Corvette at our "Saturday Breakfast at the Plum" on March 2nd and March 16th. Looking ahead the Spring Season gets started on Saturday, April 13th with the La Conner Tulip Parade. This event is open to all Corvettes, hardtops, coupes and convertibles. This is a great event and an excellent chance to get out and see all of the tulips in full bloom! For more information please contact Jim McDonnell, our CMCS Parade Chair at: Parades@. Last but not least, I would like to remind you to consider supporting our wonderful club Sponsor's, Lee Johnson Chevrolet in Kirkland and Speedway Chevrolet in Monroe whenever you need service or parts for your Corvette or when it becomes time to look for that next Corvette! I look forward to seeing you at the March General Meeting and Officer Installation Banquet!

Wet Weekend Hard-Luck Moose Changes Hands

by Oran Petersen This moose has been around a few years, and is passed at Wet Weekend to the member(s) suffering the worst luck/ hardship during the event. Dee & I got it in 2011 when she broke her leg and we did not even go on the event. It somehow showed up on our curio cabinet after a CMCS work party at our home. Craig & Candy Turi are now the new "keepers" for 2013 due to a small scratch suffered by his Vette and because Candy could not attend due to a bad cold. And be careful! The moose "dispenses" brown pellets when you ignore him too long or push the wrong button!

Parades

by Jim McDonnell - Parade Chairman Parades@

(425) 753-6658

The new parade season is on for CMCS beginning with the Not-So-Impromptu Tulip Parade in La Conner on April 13th. Hope to see you there.

La Conner Tulip Parade

Saturday April 13th. 2 pm A fun filled event at the Skagit Valley Tulip festival. All Corvettes are welcome in this parade: hardtops, coupes and convertibles. We have always had beautiful weather, sometimes cool, but always great for this short but fun little parade through one of the Northwest's historic towns. We begin at 9 a.m with coffee at Starbucks On 128th Ave SE, Everett. That is just a few blocks west of the Payne Field exit off of I-5. If you want breakfast, go to Patty's Pancake House just across the street. Be at Starbucks at 9:15 am for a departure to La Conner at about 9:30. You may want to attend the PACCAR once-a-year opening at their technology, innovation and testing headquarters. View their latest trucks and see the antique truck show. It is a great one-time visit. On State Highway 20 we pass Farm-to-Market Road. To visit PACCAR leave the tour at that point. Those not stopping at PACCAR remain with the tour to the staging area at the school headquarters on 6th Street in La Conner. We stage there until the parade start at 2 pm. You now have a chance to do some shopping in downtown La Conner, have lunch, or just window shop. After the parade, have a late lunch at the Farmhouse restaurant or find Tulip Town. This sales mecca has everything just like a Saturday Market, including guaranteed fields of multi-colored tulips. It is quite a sight. Be sure and let me know that you are coming.

Saturday July 27th

Torchlight Parade

I have received messages from 19 Corvette Convertible owners expressing an interest in being in this parade. A great start for the coming year.
