Research Interests:

My substantive research interests span a broad range of topics including organizational behavior, consumer behavior, group dynamics and human resource management. Methodologically, I have received extensive training in both qualitative and quantitative approaches to inquiry. However, my research focus has been centered on a rapidly developing research paradigm, called social network theory and analysis. A social network consists of any set of actors (often people, but also organizations, markets, and industries) and can substantively serve to help explain how certain patterns of interaction arise or how particular relations affect individuals’ and groups’ behaviors. Employing graph theory, sociomatrices, and algebraic models, social network analysis offers a way of formalizing social relationships so that they can be studied systematically. I am particularly interested in extending network analytic techniques to the study of the organizational behavior in the sport sector, the social construction of knowledge in our field, social cohesion on sport teams and social contagion associated with sport consumer behavior.
