them we do care and we appreciate them." Currently, the golf membership fee for an individual is just over $300. Leonard noted that the council will need to add the benefit to the city's policy manual. He will provide a draft of the change at the next meeting.

Hammer also touted the fact that safewise. com a website that list safe cities across the nation, lists Providence as the safest city in Kentucky. "I thought it was neat he," he said, "that Providence was recognized."

Fire Chief Steve Burns reported that he and Conrad have worked on the dispatch budget and that numbers for 2021-22 indicate that changes the council has discussed about the agency could be made based on the upcoming financial picture. He also noted that another employee in dispatch has given a two-week notice, leaving the department with two fulltime and two parttime employees. After a brief discussion, the council approved amending the present budget to make

the changes immediately in an effort to attract and retain employees.

In the comments portion of the meeting, Derek David pointed out that a number of street signs at least one stop sign are missing and need to be replaced. Hammers asked May about the problem, to which May replied, "I have a list, I just don't have the people to do it."

The council briefly discussed the importance of city residents posting their house numbers to help first responders finds residences more quickly when they are called. Although a GPS can likely get the responders to the street, the lack of house numbers makes finding the correct house difficult. The city does have an ordinance to address the matter, but it is unclear who enforces the ordinance.

Other issues to come before the council before it adjourned are uneven sidewalks and trees in an alleyway.

The next meeting of the Providence City Council is scheduled for Monday, May 3, at 7:00 p.m.

year.

The council briefly discussed sidewalks and

streets that need repair including a walkways on KY 109 and beside the Baptist Church as well as paving needs on Nall Street and along the street where the old Southern States building is located.

Before the meeting adjourned, Mayor Jack Edens asked the council to approve appointments to two boards. The council approved the appointments of Coy Edens, Dustin Ray, Tristan Meadows, Mattea Meadows, Jesse Reeves and Lauren Davis to the park board and the appointment of Patty Dennis, Scott Stone, Lisa Stone and William Stone to the city's code enforcement board.

The council also gave Edens permission to move forward with the purchase of a side by side UTV for city use. The mayor noted that funding for the UTV has been included in the last two city budgets.

The council also learned that the tourism board has applied for a land and water grant to make improvements at the city park. If they are successful in receiving the grant the tennis courts will be replaced with new ones; new rock will be added to the playground area and the railroad tie border in some areas will be replaced. The grant is a 50/50 matching grant.

It was also announced that the city's drive through window at the city building has been completed.

The next meeting of the Clay City Council is scheduled for May 11, at 6:00 p.m.
