First Meeting – All Teachers

Professional Athletes—Our Major Role Mode By: Jessica Matten? Professional athletes are the faces of perfection. They truly need to be worshipped for all their good and charity they do for the world. Every parent can only hope that their children will one day turn out to be as successful and as amazing as all of the professional athletes are today. Most professional athletes today have the perfect characteristics. Who wouldn’t want to be as hard-working, arrogant, determined, tough, abusive, and dedicated as these athletes? The top two greatest athletes as role models are Floyd Mayweather and Michael Phelps. Each one of these athletes makes millions of dollars, and they never let their fans down. They are always the best they can be on and off their professional arenas.?? One of the top paid athletes, Floyd Mayweather, is better known as “Pretty Boy Floyd”. Floyd is a professional boxer and a legend. Throughout his professional career he has been undefeated, making a minimum of $32 million per fight. He has won three National Golden Gloves and an Olympic bronze medal. In the early 2000’s Mayweather was charged and spent some time in jail for domestic violence. He is a boxer; he is paid to punch people, so he was technically just doing his job. The people he hit should know better than to get in a professional boxer’s way. If someone is paid to punch others, then that’s what he should be doing all the time for extra practice. Pretty Boy Floyd is so dedicated, that he practices fighting even in malls and clubs.? Another top paid athlete is Michael Phelps. Phelps is an Olympic swimmer, holding the record number of medals won. He has won twenty-two Olympic medals, including eighteen gold medals. Phelps was recently arrested for reckless driving and driving under the influence. He was pulled over for excessive speeding and for crossing over in lanes. This swimmer is extremely hard-working. Even after a night of gambling and drinking, he was practicing his speed. Phelps speeds in the water so he has to speed on land as well. Also, changing lanes in swimming is helpful to know different parts of a pool. Phelps was obviously preparing for a hard workout the next morning by crossing lanes and speeding on the highway.? There are many other athletes in the world who are just as great and inspiring as Pretty Boy Floyd and Phelps. Some more athletes are Ray Rice, Tiger Woods, and Alex Rodriquez. All of these athletes are hardworking, arrogant, abusive, dedicated, and honorable. These are the types of people that all children, and even adults, should look up to. Everyone should strive to be just as great as these professional athletes.A Day in the LifeBy: Anna Brower? Welcome to high school where everyone is encouraged to be themselves and jocks, geeks, bandies, and preps are all treated just the same and are all able to live together in perfect harmony. Obviously this isn’t the “real” world yet so kids feel no stress and float right through the day as the “real” world spins on just outside the red brick walls. I would like to take you through a day in my life as a present-day high school student.? After going to bed at 2:00 a.m. on a school night, I wake up 6:00 a.m. to get ready for an exciting day at school. This is an adequate amount of sleep though because research shows that students only need four hours of sleep to be a functional zombie at school the next day.? If I have time before the bus driver rolls up ten minutes early, I like to eat a balanced breakfast. ? When I arrive to school, I enter the welcoming glass doors where I meet my classmates' smiling faces and warm embraces. When I finally get to my locker, I part the sea of couples making out in the hallway. These couples will have plenty of time to make out because it is certain that they will be together forever. I gladly repeat this ritual several times throughout the day when I return to retrieve my books later.? During my morning study hall, I sit down at a computer to start filling out a college application. Over the years, these applications have gotten significantly easier to fill out. A student only needs to send a vial of blood, a DNA sample, sell their soul to the Dean of Admissions, hold three major leadership positions, be involved in nine extracurricular activities, and play three varsity sports to be considered for acceptance.? ? ? ? ? As I go through my afternoon classes, I can see how happy my teachers are to be teaching us. I would be too if I was getting paid as much as them.?? Sadly, the end of the day has arrived and it is time to head home for the weekend. Tonight there is a home football game that everyone will go to. Although I have mountains of homework, I am going to attend the game because it is proven that attending every football game during your high school career increases your chances of getting a job in your desired field. My days spent in high school are great. I love being drained at the end of the week with two days to recover after five days of work. If you’re an upcoming freshman, you have nothing to worry about; high school will be the best four years of your life. ................
