|The situation in Thailand continued to be tense. The military police kept firing shots to disperse the anti-government protesters. |

|Countries including China, Australia, the UK, France, Singapore, Russia and Canada have issued travel warnings, asking people not to |

|visit Thailand. The Secretary for Security of Hong Kong announced last night that the situation in Thailand was deteriorating rapidly; |

|he strongly urged people not to visit Thailand, especially Bangkok, unless it was really necessary. Many travel agencies in Hong Kong |

|have cancelled tours that set off to Thailand between today and 22nd April. Somebody in the insurance sector said that tourists should |

|end their trips in Thailand as soon as possible because travel insurances in general have specified that tourists will not be |

|compensated in cases of wars, riots and coups d’etat. |

|It was Thailand’s ‘Water Spraying Festival’ (the local New Year) yesterday, but, affected by the protestors’ riots, a lot of tourists |

|cancelled their visits. Many tourist spots were temporarily closed, so were some large shopping centres in the city centre. A lot of |

|military police were patrolling in town, which was quiet. |

c) Labour is derived demand. (1) A fall in the demand for tourism services in Thailand reduces the demand for Thai tour guides. (1) The wages of the local tour guides will fall. (1) Correct diagram. (2)

d) The incident above seriously affects the tourism industry in Thailand, causing its exports of service to decrease. (1) Moreover, it also causes domestic investment to fall. (1) So, the growth rate of GDP of Thailand will fall. (1)

Thailand’s balance of invisible trade will decrease, causing the current account balance to decrease. (2)
