She speaks about how her and Barack decided upon raising their children for the last eight years in the white house. She talks about how going from a normal life to living in the white house because the father of her kids is the president of the united states. She describes how on the first day of school, her children were escorted to school in black SUVs and by many men. Michelle explains how her daughter’s life would be changed forever, and how their friends would never be the same as them because they live in the white house. Michelle talks about how Hillary Clinton should be president. Michelle explains what her purpose is, who the audience is, and she uses appeals to grab her audiences attention. Michelle’s purpose in her speech is that Hillary Clinton should become the next president. She clearly states what her purpose, so it makes her speech easier to understand. When she states her purpose, she clearly states her goal that she is trying to get across. She talks about how Barack and she had set plans on how they were going to raise their kids while they were in the white house. She explains their different ways on how they taught the girls. She then explains how she thinks Hillary Clinton has done so many things to improve America and how she is the best fit. She states her purpose to America on who she thinks would be the best fit for America. While she stated her speech to America, she used encouraging and inspiring words. Michelle Obama directs her audience to the voters of the united states, attempting to make them realize why Hillary should be president. She uses one of her final speeches as first lady to speak well of Hillary. She is trying to get all Americans listening to the speech to realize why Hillary is the best candidate. She mostly directs her speech at Republicans who are planning to vote for trump, because she obviously wants Hillary to win. Michelle states, “ I have seen her lifelong dedication to the nation’s children”. she tries to aim her speech at parents in america who only want the best for their kids. She also states about Hillary, “You see, Hillary has spent decades doing the relentless, thankless work to actually make a difference in their lives -- advocating for kids with disabilities as a young lawyer, fighting for children’s health care as First Lady, and for quality child care in the Senate. “ (page 3) Michelle doesn’t just direct her purpose to her political party she directs it to many different audiences. She uses different thing to agree with many different people with completely different views on how America should be ran. She agrees with republicans views, democrats and also third party voters. She uses multiple appeals in her speech. she uses logos to explain what all Hillary has done in the last 8 years and how she never gives up, and she uses pathos trying to persuade voters to vote for Hillary because that’s who she wants the new president to be. Michelle tries to persuade American’s to vote for Hillary by stating the many things she has done for America. She says, “And when I think about the kind of President that I want for my girls and all our children, that’s what I want.” She makes the people who love Michelle and Barack want to agree with them and vote for Hillary because they trust the president. Michelle states how Hillary has never given up even after not becoming the president when Barack did. Michelle states,” And when she didn’t win the nomination eight years ago, she didn’t get angry or disillusioned. She -- Hillary did not -- Hillary did not pack up and go home, because as a true public servant Hillary knows that this is so much bigger than her own desires and disappointments. So she proudly stepped up to serve our country once again as secretary of state, traveling the globe to keep our kids safe.” She uses truly encouraging words about Hillary even though Hillary almost one the election against her husband. In this speech, Michelle uses many appeals to try to get her audience to see what her purpose is. She tells America what her stance on the upcoming election is, and why. When Michelle gave her speech she clearly made it clear what her purpose was and who the audience was. She states how she got through living in the whit house and how she and Barack Obama still made sure that they spent quality time with there daughters.
