Objectives

This one day multidisciplinary course is designed to meet the educational needs of internists, family physicians, vascular surgeons, neurosurgeons, general surgeons, cardiologists, interventional radiologists, fellows and trainees in these disciplines as well as nurses and allied health professionals who are interested in the prevention, management and treatment of vascular disease.

Specifically this program will provide participants with information about:

• Data from ICSS and CREST trials and implications for patient care regarding Carotid Disease.

• Recognizing factors to be evaluated for preoperative clearance for peripheral vascular surgery procedures. Describe appropriate medications and non-operative therapy for PAD. Recognizing wounds as to arterial/venous or other types.

• Recognize long-term complications from EVAR. Describe indications for AAA repair. Define indications for medical management vs. intervention for dissection.

• Defining indications for IVC filter placement. Recognizing patients with potential proximal DVT, and define appropriate indications for referral for invasive intervention. Describe indications and options for treatment of venous insufficiency.

• Interpreting vascular lab report information and how it may be used for patient care.

• Recognizing the importance of early evaluation and referral for vascular access. Describing options for care for vascular injuries.
