About the University of London

The University of London collaborates with a number of its self-governing Member Institutions to offer flexible and distance learning programmes worldwide. These are delivered through the University of London International Programmes.

The University was formally set up by the University of London’s Board of Trustees as a ‘Central Academic Body’, which is an educational, academic or research institution that has been established in accordance with University of London Statutes. They are governed by the Board of the International Academy and related committees.

Why I have chosen the University of London

From my research of numerous education providers I am confident that the University of London offers the most suitable programme to benefit myself and the business. The following demonstrates why this is my preferred choice:

Flexible study

The programme can be completed in a minimum of six months and a maximum of five years. Students can register for all modules in one session or divide them over different sessions. I am therefore able to plan when I will study each module around my prioritised work commitments. The study material can be accessed online from anywhere in the world through the University of London Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

Learning methods

The programme offers online support in the form of online readings and a large range of activities to keep students engaged with a range of topics. Students that select ‘web-supported learning’ have an online tutor to assist in providing personalised academic assistance. Each module also has a module tutor to help students with academic matters.

Each student is provided with a Student Relationship Manager, who will track their study to ensure they remain engaged at important times and are aware of all approaching deadlines.

Networking

The programme is open to students all over the world. The diverse student cohort enables new and close relationships to grow for the benefit of individuals and employers. Online forums also create an excellent communication platform for collaborative study.

As the programme grows, so will the alumni base, which will allow access to an ever-growing networking community.

Quality / Accreditation

The University of London and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the global body for professional accountancy, have worked in collaboration to offer this MSc. Many of the tutors have worked in numerous financial roles and have been selected for their academic experience as tutors

Financial value

The whole course fee does not have to be paid up-front. Payments can be made prior to the start of each session. Due to the small number of modules required, the programme fees are very competitive compared to those faced by students studying a similar qualification on campus. Please refer to the ‘costs’ section below for the fees I require to complete the programme.

Why I have chosen the MSc in Professional Accountancy

[Whichever scenario applies, you should also identify how the topics covered will benefit your career development and your business. This information can be found on our programme page.]

*If you intend to study under Pathway 2*

The global reputation of the University of London and its large alumni following attracted me to this institution. Studying with a reputable University means I will obtain high-class support and up-to-date information.

As an ACCA member/affiliate, this programme allows me to obtain an MSc qualification using modules that I have previously studies with the ACCA.

The flexibility of the programme means that if the business requires me to focus more intensely on current work and lets me know in advance, I can adjust my study to a more appropriate session so it does not interfere with my work.

Additionally, as the course material and tuition are both provided online, I am able to study the programme from anywhere in the world if travel becomes necessary for work.

Under Pathway 2 there are no exams – only coursework and projects. This means I would not require time off to sit examinations.

I intend to complete the programme in a time period of *one year* by taking one module per session. I believe I can balance the 10-15 study hours per week alongside my work commitments.

As is clear, the total cost to obtain an MSc with the University of London is significantly lower than the average cost to study in the UK for international postgraduate students.

As I intend to study Pathway 1 from a Band B country, the fee will be £3,000. I have contacted my local exam centre, which has advised that it currently charges £XX per exam.

Therefore the total estimated fee is: _________

Summary

I would like to apply for the whole estimated fee from the business. As I intend to study the three modules consecutively, the options are to pay the full fee upfront or to pay per module before the start of each session.

The MSc in Professional Accountancy promises a high quality learning experience for a competitive price. I believe it will improve my current competencies to help me develop in my role and improve the business efficiency.
