This appointment is contingent upon your establishing your employment eligibility as required by Federal Law. Please see the attached sheet for the documents required.
Your position will be Acting Assistant Professor, Step ___, at an annual salary of $__________ [use Acting Professor scale]. This appointment is effective July 1, 200* through June 30, 200* [one year appointment]. This is a tenure track position.
When you complete the Ph.D. requirements, your title will be changed to Assistant Professor, Step ___, at an annual base salary of $__________, with an appointment end date of June 30, 200* [two year appointment]. If you finish your degree before the beginning of the service period for Fall quarter, 200* (September *, 200*), these changes will be made retroactively to July 1, 200*. Please note that at the University of California there is a two-year limit on service in the Acting Assistant Professor title. This means that the University will be unable to offer you employment in the Professor series after June 30, 200*, if you have not received your Ph.D. by that time. In addition, the University of California has an eight-year limit on service in the Acting Assistant Professor and Assistant Professor titles combined.
