|Nominee |Brief Description |
|Alton D. Rison |Dr. Rison was a founder/first publisher of the only study guide to help low performing |
| |minorities and schools on the TAAS/TAKS test in the state. He was a former school |
| |administrator of the city of New York, but retired/returned to Austin in 1988, to come and |
| |work with schools in the Austin, Houston, and Dallas public schools as well as charters and |
| |parents. Many students of the Austin ISD were able to pass the TAAS after using his |
| |material and workshops. Dr. Rison was a firm believer in the talent of all students as a |
| |natural gift they should not ignore, even when other say they are disruptive and not able to|
| |achieve. Dr. Rison encouraged students, parents, and staff of AISD to refocus and encourage|
| |students’ natural talents in the arts and athletics. He was honored by the Texas House of |
| |Representatives for outstanding contributions to Austin and the broader community. |
|Dorothy Orebo |As principal of LBJ High School, she did so much to establish LBJ as one of the finest high |
| |schools in Texas. She was instrumental in brining the Science academy to LBJ and under her |
| |leadership LBJ High School produced more scholarship monies than any other school ever in |
| |AISD. Mrs. Orebo retired from AISD in 1992 with 33 years of service. She started her |
| |education pathway as an English teachers at Kealing JHS, then went to Johnston as a teacher |

| |High, McCallum HS, Anderson HS. At Anderson he gave the Trojans their first district |
| |football championship and the very next year he coached the baseball team into the state |
| |playoffs. Respect, Honor and Integrity are words that define James S. Acker, and these are |
| |characteristics that he knowingly passed on to those of us fortunate enough to have crossed |
| |his path. Coach Acker retired from AISD in 1989. |
|James Keller |James Keller went to school in Austin. He was an outstanding athlete and he died several |
| |years ago of ALS. He was an inspiration to all throughout his illness and will be |
| |remembered fondly by all who knew him as a school classmate or as a baseball coach. |
|Jorge Luis Rodriquez |Mr. Rodriquez in an AISD Administrator. His passion for education and the success of all |
| |children is limitless. He make time for his students and time for those not even assigned |
| |to him but need someone to talk to. |

| |(winning the Tour de France) — three times! His example of determination is inspirational to|
| |young people and adults alike. He represents the qualities that the school district and we, |
| |as parents, strive to instill in our children. Known internationally, he is a popular hero |
| |with young people and I believe his name would inspire them to achieve at the highest |

| |planning |

| |Coach Lambert are Johnnie Rodgers, Jimmy Banks, Jack Allison, Will Davis, and Desmond Kidd. |
|Tyrone Johnson |Coach Johnson represented Austin well as a player at Austin High and the University of Texas|
| |and a Coach at Anderson High. Coach Johnson was about so much more than winning. Coach |
| |Johnson instilled in his players the values of discipline, fair play, promptness, hard work,|
| |and always striving to do your best. As a Coach in AISD, I saw Coach Johnson as a leader in|
| |his field. He was respected in Central Texas and across the state by his professional peers.|
| |I learned much about coaching from Coach Johnson and I know that everything he did was |
