For room reservations, contact the University Marriott-Tucson at (520)792-4100 and ask for the Arizona Community Health Worker Conference to receiove a negotiated rate of $99.00 per

night. Hotel room rates are subject to an additional state and local tax (currently 12.05%) and a bed tax of $2.00.

Hotel Parking Garage is managed by the University of Arizona and is $13.00 per day. Short Term/Day valet parking is $10.00 per day.

The Arizona Community Health Outreach Workers Association (AzCHOW) would like to recognize and honor the service of a Community Health Worker (CHW) in Arizona.

The American Public Health Association definition is: "A Community Health Worker (CHW) is a frontline public health trusted member of and/or has an in depth understanding of the community served. This trusting relationship enables the CHW to serve as a liaison/link/intermediary between health/social

services and the community to facilitate access to services and improve the quality and cultural competence of service deliver. A CHW also builds individual and community capacity by increasing health

knowledge and self-sufficiency through a range of activities such as outreach, community education, informal counseling, social support and advocacy." (American Public Health Association, 2009)

CHWs are also known as Community Health Representatives, Cultural Health Navigators, Promotores, Community Health Advisors, etc.

Recognition of Awardee will occur during the conference Lunch presentation on Friday, June 17.

The Marriott University Park is centrally located adjacent to the University of Arizona campus in Tucson, Arizona. The hotel amenities include fitness center, outdoor pool, business center, local restaurants and shopping. The Marriott is also located next to University Boulevard and Main Gate Square with the SunLink Streetcar which provides access to 4th Avenue and Downtown Tucson.

Once on Tucson Take EXIT 257 toward Speedway Blvd/St Marys Rd.

Turn left onto W Speedway Blvd.
