Admissions Cycle Important Dates & Information

December 31: Last day to open a new application. January 31: APPLICATION DEADLINE. All required documents must be submitted electronically or

postmarked by 11:59PM EST on January 31, 2023.. Deadline for nominating sources to submit nominations to USNA. April 15: All candidates will be notified of their status.

Steps for Admission:

Candidate Information System (CIS)

Candidate Information System (CIS) is where the candidate can update contact information, see the status of your required documents sumitted, and see contact information for your Admissions Counselor and Blue and Gold Officer. See email sent from Admissions to access your account.

To gain access to the CIS page, students need to follow instructions on the email received from the USNA Office of Admissions: Click on "CIS Website" Click on "Sign Up" Click on "Registration Form"

The applicants will create their own password and gets them access to their own CIS page. CIS shows real-time information Candidate email will give them their Candidate Number Students should check their CIS page frequently to monitor application progress and verify

required documents are received.

Preliminary Application

Candidates open an application by going to usna.edu/admissions, click on Apply for the Class of 2026 and fill out the questionnaire.

Online Application

This is the first document for you to complete and submit. Contains personal and educational information about the you, to include:

Personal Statement: 500 word limit response and need to answer BOTH questions

(1) Describe what led to your initial interest in the naval service and how the USNA will help you achieve your long range goals.

(2) Describe a personal experience you have had which you feel has contributed to your own character development & integrity.

Extracurricular activities

List of all athletic and non-athletic ECAs from high school. Anything not on the form must be entered in the Remarks section We DO NOT accept resumes. ECAs go to your guidance counselor for verification after you submit it. It won't show as received on

your CIS page until your counselor submits it. IMPORTANT: If you want to update your ECAs after your counselor submits it, your guidance

counselor must email a summary of updates to your USNA admissions counselor. IMPORTANT: If you need to change the counselor's info or need the email resent, you can do this from

your CIS page before you submit your Online Application.

Teacher Evaluations

For high school students applying, recommendations must come from the JUNIOR or SENIOR year teachers. (Upcoming teacher Senior year or teacher one year prior, which was junior year)

Candidate will enter your teacher's Name and Email address into your CIS page. The recommendation won't show as received until your teacher submits it. Your teacher receives an automatic email from USNA with a link to the required form.

IMPORTANT: These 2 recommendations must be submitted using our online form. IMPORTANT: If you need to change the teacher's info or needs the email resent, you can do this from

your CIS page before you submit your Online Application. After you submit, any changes need to be made by an Admissions Counselor.

Candidate Academic Information (CAI)

CAI is academic info about the student like GPA, Class Rank, etc. This is completed by a guidance counselor or registrar using an electronic form, similar to the

recommendations above. IMPORTANT: If you need to change the guidance counselor's info or need the email resent, you can do

this from your CIS page before you submit your Online Application. After you submit, any changes need to be made by an Admissions Counselor.

High School Transcript

Transcripts can be uploaded into your record by your Guidance Counselor. If the school is unable to upload, then the transcript can be mailed to our office.

IMPORTANT: The transcript must be complete through the end of junior year. It normally takes 4-6 weeks for us to receive and process a transcript. Transcript Address:

Candidate Fitness Assessment (CFA)

The CFA consists of six events that are designed to measure muscular strength, endurance, and coordination.

Assists the Admissions Board in determining if a candidate has the physical ability to succeed as a Midshipman and as an Officer in the Navy

CFA instructions are available here: Step 7 of "Steps for Admission" on usna.edu/admissions. Maximum scores are on the website. The CFA is the same for USNA, USMA, USAFA, and USMMA (not USCGA). If you would like

scores shared between academies, you should contact your admissions counselor at the academy where your scores were first sent. IMPORTANT: Candidates can take the test multiple times, if you want to retake the test you need to email your USNA Admissions counselor with:

o Name of CFA administrator o Email address of CFA administrator ADVICE: Recommend that candidates take the CFA at least 2 times.

Standardized Tests

Test-flexible policy this year: USNA encourages candidates to take either the SAT or ACT prior to admission.

If tests are taken multiple times, the Admissions Board will use the highest scores from the Math and Critical Reading/English section for their evaluation.

Official test scores must be sent to us directly from College Board or . You can either ask for them to be sent when they register for the test or order an official score report after taking the test. You must order the tes in its entirety, not just the super-score.

Non-standard tests (untimed/extra time/accommodations) are not accepted for admission. The College Board Codes for USNA are:

o SAT: 5809 o ACT: 1742 IMPORTANT: If you send your scores more than 4 weeks ago and they are not in your application, contact the College Board/ACT and provide your admissions counselor with the following info: o Test Date o Date scores were sent to USNA o For ACT, we need the Cycle Number

Medical

Admissions will make a determination as to if/when your name will be sent to DoDMERB for your medical based on the progression of activity toward completing your application, in conjunction with your competitiveness.

Nominations

A nomination is required for admission to USNA. Most candidates are eligible to apply for a nomination from their Congressional Representative, two

U.S. Senators from their State, and the Vice President. It is not a requirement to know your Congressional Member in order to get a nomination. You can find your Representative by going to and entering your zip code and your

Senators by going to and entering the state. IMPORTANT: Each Congressional and Senatorial office has its own procedures and deadlines for

accepting nomination applications. Most deadlines are between September and November. You should contact Congressional Offices as soon as possible to find out the details of the nomination

applications. The Vice Presidential nomination application can be accessed from our admissions website:

IMPORTANT: You should apply to ALL nomination sources for which you are eligible. Other available nominations are explained in detail on our website under Step 3 of the "Steps for

Admission" Service-Connected Nominations: If you or your parents are Active Duty, Retired, or Reserve military

personnel or if you participate in JROTC/ROTC, you may be eligible for a service-connected nomination. Details are available on our admissions website. Nomination Application Deadline for VP and service-connected nominations is: January 31st, 2023
