Course Description

80% of this course is hands-on practical sessions where participants will be engaged in a series of interactive small groups, class workshops and role-plays.

Training is any planned activity to transfer or modify knowledge, skills, and attitudes through learning experiences. Personnel may require training for a variety of reasons, including the need to maintain levels of competence and respond to the demands of changing circumstances and new approaches and technologies. Training by itself cannot solve structural, organizational, or policy problems within an organization, although supportive supervision and the use of motivational strategies can help sustain performance improvement derived from training.

This course is design to provide participants with a detailed and up-to-date overview of managing and coordinating training. It covers the benefits of training and development and reasons causing programs to fail; the main phases of the ISD model of training and development; the necessary tasks in coordinating training activities; training providers and preparing a training request for proposal (RFP); the work environment that will facilitate transfer of training; and the training best practices within organizations.
