TokarskiDate: 3/6/2019JOB SUMMARYThe Program Manager, Business & Finance - Hospital Division is responsible for providing support to the VP/President of UW Hospitals, Madison Region in execution of strategic and operational initiatives across the Hospitals Division. This position is responsible for providing advanced business development and financial management, analytics, strategy support and coordination. This includes coordination of the Hospitals Division operating and capital budgets, preparation of financial, variance and productivity information, planning for program growth and organizational improvement, and assisting with performance excellence activities. This position works collaboratively and serves as advisor to the Hospitals Division leadership team on financial matters related to operations. This position also works collaboratively with the various Directors and Managers who support Hospital Operations. The Program Manager is the primary liaison to Finance for questions regarding, the budget, productivity, and financial reports. Challenges encountered can be of a high complexity and require a broad knowledge of business development, healthcare and business administration, fiscal management and planning. The incumbent is expected to identify and resolve problems with minimum direction. The incumbent is expected to possess excellent organizational skills that will lead to the effective planning and management of projects. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESStrategic Planning and ImplementationAssists and advises the President in developing and executing strategic business plans to achieve operational objectives across Madison RegionDevelops and updates site/department goals consistent with the organization/facility’s strategic business plan, mission and vision.Supports prioritization and allocation of resources to highest strategic initiatives.Continually focuses on identifying innovative solutions and work methods, and the integration and standardization of processes to ensure effective stewardship.Develops new processes or services which includes, when appropriate, business and financial justification.Financial management and operations planning Assists with financial operations and initiatives to achieve the annual operating plan, including management of staffing, productivity, non-labor expenses and performance metrics Recommends creation of committees, workgroups, and other long-standing or ad hoc structures to support achievement of Hospital Division and UW Health goalsParticipates in the development of Madison Region hospital patient care programs, policies and procedures that address how the care needs of patient populations are assessed, evaluated and metSupports budget preparation and monitoring for Hospital Operations cost center(s)Assists in assuring productivity and benchmarking metrics are accurate and appropriate for Hospital Division departmentsPerforms productivity report preparation and benchmarking Manages fiscal operation of assigned departments.Manages operations of assigned departments to achieve targets for designated Key Performance IndicatorsPersonnel ManagementSupervises Hospital Operations project/analytics team Builds strong relationships with physicians, employees, and peers OtherServes as an advisor and consultant to organizational strategic plan initiatives that connect to Hospitals Division (i.e. JOA, East Campus, Innovation Center)Other duties as assignedALL DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS MUST BE PERFORMED CONSISTENT WITH THE UW HEALTH PERFORMANCE STANDARDS.JOB REQUIREMENTSEducationMinimumBachelor’s degree in business, health care administration, finance, or another relevant fieldPreferredMaster’s degree in health care administration, business or another relevant fieldWork ExperienceMinimum Five years relevant experience; relevant education or training may be substituted for experiencePreferredExperience in an academic health systemExperience in health care settingLicenses & CertificationsMinimum PreferredRequired Skills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesExceptional oral/written communication skills.Ability to independently research issues and make effective recommendations using critical thinking skills.Effective analytical ability to solve complex problems and issues.Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with a diverse group of people.Track record demonstrating ability to function independently and as a team member, and consistently deliver quality outcomes.Excellent organizational skills and attention to petent in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Data management – meaningful manipulation and extraction of data to support operations.AGE SPECIFIC COMPETENCY (Clinical jobs only)Identify age-specific competencies for direct and indirect patient care providers who regularly assess, manage and treat patients.Instructions: Indicate the age groups of patients served either by direct or indirect patient care by checking the appropriate boxes below.
