JOB TITLE: Environmental Manager FLSA CLASS: Salaried, Exempt

STATUS: Full-time Permanent

DIVISION: GMCC REPORTS TO: Environmental Director

& VP of Corporation

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Merlino Companies operate in the construction, mining, land development and concrete production industries. The Environmental Manager is responsible for managing and implementing environmental programs and systems across the corporation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

• Ensure compliance with Federal, Local and State environmental regulations.

• Influence organizations, management and teams to maintain and develop environmental performance across the corporation through the collection and analysis of data metrics.

• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, and advise senior management of the expected changes/impacts.

• Partner with site, regional and national stakeholders to increase environmental awareness, tracking, reporting and drive continuous improvement efforts.

• Conduct environmental inspections; prepare reports, contracts and complete government paperwork.

• Management of environmental issues as related to air, wastewater, storm-water, construction waste, and hazmat reporting.

• Build and manage environmental teams to ensure environmental initiatives are integrated in the Company’s business objectives.

• The renewal or acquisition of permits necessary to support existing operations and expansions. Assure all required regulatory and permit-required reports are accurately completed and submitted on time.

• Perform site compliance sampling and submission to lab for analysis.

• Develop, conduct and/or assist with periodic regulatory compliance audits at company facilities.

• Serve as a resource to facility personnel with environmental responsibilities.

• Facilitate the setting of environmental objectives and targets.

EDUCATION:

Undergraduate degree required

WORK EXPERIENCE:

5+ years of management experience

Prefer candidates with backgrounds in:

• Environmental management

• Sustainability program management

• Construction or Sand and Gravel industry

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Excellent understanding of environmental related federal, state and local laws/regulations/policies/procedures.

• Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to provide creative solutions/advice on technical and environmental management issues.

• Ability to establish, build and maintain effective relationships with agencies and represent the company in a public forum (including public speaking).

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Combination of office and outdoor jobsite environment

• Occasional exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold or chemicals

• Day shift

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• May sit for long periods of time.

• May require infrequent lifting up to 50lbs.

• May also include frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing and pulling.
