REI deployed the OJP IT web, which is an Internet-based ...

The OJP IT website is an Internet-based resource that enables justice professionals at all levels of government to access timely and useful information about information sharing processes, initiatives and technological developments.

The site gives user the control of their web browsing experience by allowing them to customize the page display, and provide more ways of accessing the growing number of resources within the site, through a comprehensive document library that allows the user to view to every document on the site from a single location.

The site provides a fully integrated content management system that allows content providers and administrators to work within an existing workflow. The content management system has been developed in-house at REI Systems.

Workflow of the Content Management System -

• The users login to the site and provide informational content.

• Designated administrators are informed via email, that they have a content waiting approval.

• Administrators logon to the system to take action on the content that is awaiting their approval.

• Role-based authentication - Every user has been assigned a particular role and his permissions differ according to his role.

• When the content has gone through all the levels of approval, it is then published on the site.

• The content can be disapproved at any level of approval, which sends an email to the user who had originally submitted the content notifying him of the action.

Other Site features also include -

• A database-driven event calendar

• An automated list of recent updates

• An online forum for members to discuss related issues

• A full-featured search utility, where the users can search for information in the content and documents

• External Search capability, where the users can search for related information on other related sites using a web crawler

• Document repository, where the users can upload a document, and another user can then check it out and make changes to it and then check it back in. All the versions are stored in the database and a user can view any version of the document like in any version control system.

• Task management System, where a user can assign a task to another user, and when the work is completed the status of the work can be update
