ROOM ON THE BROOM

The witch and her cat are flying happily on their broomstick ? until a stormy wind blows away the witch's hat, bow and wand. A helpful dog, bird and frog find the witch's lost things, and they all hop on the broom for a ride. But this broomstick's not meant for five and ? CRACK ? the broom snaps in two! When a hungry dragon appears, who will save the poor witch? And will there ever be room on the broom for everyone? Songs, laughs and scary fun for children aged 3 and up (and their grown-ups), adapted from the book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, creators of The Gruffalo.

This season the Center for the Arts is honored to present a special program entitled "Our American Music" featuring composers such as John Williams, John Phillip Sousa, Aaron Copland, Frederick Lowe and other American greats. The education program of The Florida Orchestra seeks to cultivate an appreciation for the experience of live orchestral music education at all age levels throughout the Tampa Bay area.

Sleeping Beauty

This musical adaptation from the original story by Charles Perrault follows the plot of the traditional fairy tale, but adds delightful surprises and comic situations. The Fairies wondrous gifts to the child are given until one disgruntled fairy arrives to announce that her invitation was overlooked. A prick on the spinning wheel will take its toll on the kingdom. Will destroying all the spinning wheels be enough to save the king's daughter? Find out as this tale illustrates that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and true goodness is found only in a loving heart.

Thimbelina and her menagerie of animal friends are featured in our original musical adaptation. All of the classic characters are in this play: Mumford Mole, the Frog, Angus the Bird, Miss Spider and the Prince of Sunflowers. The production features our trademark GIANT puppets, fanciful costumed characters and live actress Holli Rubin as Princess Thimbelina!

Featuring a mix of both well known favorites and exciting new material, Jack will have everyone on their feet while practicing the basics of counting, language arts, and social skills. Jack's good nature is infections as are his original songs. You'll be singing along both during the show and for a long time after.
