Training Services Manager, Wesley LifeForce

This position description should be read in conjunction with Wesley Mission's Policy and Procedures, Chart of Delegations, Organisation Chart and appropriate standards and regulations which are applicable to the operations.

1. WESLEY MISSION

1.1.

Wesley Community Services Limited, operating as Wesley Mission, is a company

limited by guarantee and a Public Benevolent Institution. Our Purpose is to

conceive, develop and deliver services and programs to provide direct relief of

poverty, sickness, suffering, distress, adversity, disability, destitution, and

helplessness in New South Wales and other parts of Australia.

1.2.

This Purpose aligns with our Mission, which is Continuing the work of Jesus Christ

in Word and deed and our Vision to Do all the good you can, by all the means you

can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to

all the people you can, as long as ever you can.

1.3.

Wesley Mission's 2016-2021 strategic plan sets expectations for how we will

achieve the Mission, Vision and Purpose. It calls on us to be working alongside

more people in greatest need. In meeting those expectations, our behaviour is

guided by three core Values: Christlike Servanthood, Unfailing Integrity and

Courageous Commitment.

2. OBJECTIVE

2.1.

The Training Manager is responsible and accountable for the development, growth

and delivery of Wesley LifeForce training programs, specific to their program area.

This is inclusive of but not limited to existing Wesley LifeForce and Wesley training

products, in addition to the development of new training products consistent with

the strategic growth objectives of Wesley Mission

2.2.

Wesley LifeForce's operational goal is to be the preeminent provider of community

suicide prevention programs nationally. To that end, we must achieve outstanding

results for the clients and communities who engage with our services; be an

employer of choice for values driven staff; uphold and strengthen the reputation

earnt by pioneering a diverse range of services for the most vulnerable members

of our society; and operate in a way that enables us to sustain our work for

another 200 years.

2.3.

The Training Services Manager is a member of the Wesley Training Team, holding

significant influence and expected to actively contribute to the achievement of 50%

growth and a 50% increase in services to those most in need. They shape a

culture that upholds and shares Wesley Mission's Mission, Purpose, Vision,

Values, history and stories.

3. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

3.1.

Planning, Implementation and Reporting

Develop a comprehensive plan for the development and delivery of Suicide

Prevention Services training programs in accordance with Government,

Primary Health Network and other contractual requirements and in line with

Wesley Mission's strategic growth objectives.

Develop a comprehensive plan for the delivery of commercial training in line

with Wesley Mission's Suicide Prevention Services strategic growth

objectives.

Achieve commercial training targets and key performance indicators as

agreed upon and as directed by the Group Manager and other key Wesley

Training Management

Oversee delivery of Wesley LifeForce and Wesley Training Programs,

relevant to your allocated program areas

Ensure that the goals, design and content of all Wesley LifeForce and Wesley

Training Programs are based on Wesley Mission's values and relate to

community need.

Develop tailored suicide prevention products to meet the needs of target

groups, as directed by the Group Manager, Wesley LifeForce.

Effectively promote Wesley Mission's Suicide Prevention training programs

within industry groups and to government departments.

Provide reports and undertake project work as requested by the Group

Manager, Wesley LifeForce

Manage a team of Trainer Assessor, Administrators and other staff

Maintain office and workstation in an appropriately neat and tidy state at all

times.

Pursue service development opportunities and produce funding submissions

as directed by the Group Manager, Wesley LifeForce

Pursue the implementation and maintenance of best practices, policies and

procedures

Ensure information relating to upcoming training events (displayed on the

Wesley Mission website) is current.

Prepare the budgets for your relevant program areas in conjunction with the

Group Manager, to ensure that the programs meet the financial targets set

out in them.

Coordinate the quality assurance, compliance and risk requirements for all

Wesley Training programs in line with Wesley Mission Policy and

Procedures, ISO, and Registered Training Organisation (RTO) requirements.

Collect, analyse and act on relevant data in order to demonstrate good

practice and continuous improvement of training programs including

assessment strategies.

Invite, analyse and respond to learner feedback, complaints or grievance and

develop remedial actions..

Deliver training as directed by the Group Manager, Wesley LifeForce Assist the Group Manager in maintaining a positive service culture within

Wesley Training and Wesley LifeForce branch that is proactive, nonjudgmental and reflective of Wesley Mission's Christian values.

Handle confidential matters with discretion As directed by the Group Manager, Wesley LifeForce perform other duties

not inconsistent with the functions of this role

Raise the profile of Wesley LifeForce within the communities it services to

develop and maintain high levels of recognition and community engagement in the provision of suicide prevention activities.

Promote Wesley LifeForce in the community and represent Wesley Mission

as requested.

3.2.

Contracts and Finance

Support the Group Manager, Wesley LifeForce to comply with contractual funding requirements, to ensure:

Service delivery requirements are met; Quality assurance standards are met; Reporting requirements are met; Good working relationships are fostered with internal and external

stakeholders.

4. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

4.1.

Ensure the reputation and integrity of Wesley Mission is maintained at all times.

Demonstrate responsible stewardship of all resources, and report any suspected

impropriety occurring within, or in relation to, Wesley Mission. Ensure your

interpersonal relationships and behaviour do not bring your position or Wesley

Mission into disrepute.

4.2.

Declare any personal conflict of interest, including financial, family and other

matters, to your supervisor and in meetings.

4.3.

Do not, except as authorised or required by job requirements, divulge to any third

parties confidential information belonging to Wesley Mission or relating to Wesley

Mission's affairs or dealings.

4.4.

Operate at all times within the current Chart of Delegations and in accord with

instructions provided by your supervisor. Undertake other duties to support the

Purpose, Mission, Vision, Values, annual business plans and Strategic Plan as

directed by your supervisor.

4.5.

Personally model excellence in ethical service delivery and professional

standards. This will be reflected in the following:

Professional Development

Agree a program of ongoing professional development and training with the Group Manager, Wesley LifeForce.

Participate, at least annually, in Wesley Mission's Personal Review & Development Process.

Work Practices

As an employee, be responsible under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 for the health and safety of all persons you come into contact with during your employment. All hazards and injuries must be reported through the normal process as set out in Wesley Mission's Work Health, Safety and Rehabilitation Quality Management System and site procedures.

In relation to Wesley Mission and the Uniting Church in Australia attend such functions including (but not limited to) the Sydney Wesley LifeForce Memorial Day, meetings, seminars, and training courses as directed by your supervisor

In relation to Wesley Mission attend worship services as encouraged by the Group Manager.

Participate in Wesley Mission's Orientation program, so as to gain an understanding of the application of the EEO, Affirmative Action, Privacy Act, Work Health & Safety Act and other relevant legislation.

5. RELATIONSHIPS

5.1.

Reports to the Group Manager, Wesley LifeForce.

Works with:

Training Development Manager and Networks Manager and their teams

Wesley Training Operations Manager and Central Unit staff

other Wesley Mission staff, e.g. Wesley Training and other Wesley

Mission teams, volunteers, networks, committees and Boards.

corporate services provided by Head Office, e.g. accounting, legal,

communications, fundraising, property development and human

resources.

outside the Organisation: Uniting Church staff, government

departments, service providers and industry organisations.

To be successful in this position, candidates must possess the following:

Essential skills/knowledge

Relevant qualifications or experience in education, mental health, social work,

psychology and/or community services

Training and assessment qualifications or relevant experience

Proven ability to engage and develop effective relationships with government

and non-government agencies and to the broader community

Cultural awareness, sensitivity and an understanding of issues impacting

Australian Indigenous societies and culturally and linguistically diverse communities

Excellent verbal and written communication, including effective report writing

skills

Excellent coordination, administrative and people management skills

Ability to promote learning, professional development and training products

and services

Proven business acumen and business development skills

The ability to develop quality education and training programs for a variety

audiences

A current Driver's Licence
