Rancho Santiago Community College District Names Syed Rizvi Director of Financial Aid at Santiago Canyon College
(Santa Ana)—Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) has appointed Syed Rizvi director of financial aid at Santiago Canyon College (SCC).
In this role, Rizvi is responsible for the administration, management, supervision, leadership and direction of the college’s student financial assistance programs and the financial aid staff. He administers federal, state and local financial aid programs. As the designated official in charge of all federal and state financial aid programs, he certifies that the college district is in compliance with all regulations and laws governing financial aid programs.
He assumes this position following two years as director of campus solutions with National Education Loan Network in Jacksonville, Florida. There, he managed relationships with schools and provided client support for a web-based system bringing students, lenders and schools together. Prior to that, he served as national debt management director with USA Funds Services, a subsidiary of Sallie Mae Corporation. He has also directed financial aid offices at California State University, San Marcos, Rio Hondo Community College and ITT Technical Institute in West Covina. He also worked as a financial aid advisor at Rancho Santiago College (former name of Santa Ana College) from 1995 to 1996.
Rizvi earned his M.S. in education counseling from National University, San Diego, and a B.S. in statistics and physics from the University of Karachi in Pakistan. In addition, he holds a certificate in computer programming from the Computer Learning Center in Anaheim.
