Take a few moments before you go on to discuss your reactions to the message of the video.

1. Would you say that you have given Jesus everything?

Lost and Found

Have you ever lost anything? Of course you have! Perhaps it was a book... or a pen... your cell phone? ... I once lost my glasses... while still wearing them!

How about this: Have you ever lost anyone?

I have a vivid childhood memory of being in busy downtown London with my Mom. If memory serves, we had just entered a bakery and Mom had passed me something delicious and turned back to the counter to pay. I was enthralled by my gift and followed my Mom out of the store and onto the busy sidewalk. My first clue that something was amiss was when I looked up and discovered the person I was following was not my mother but a complete stranger. At the time I had no idea how frightening it would have been for my Mom to turn around and find me missing, but I know I was scared.

If you are a parent and have ever turned around to discover the daughter or son that you thought was right beside you was ...gone. GONE! You probably know what it was like for Mary and Joseph.

Reflection

Take a few moments and allow Jesus to shine the light of His Holy Spirit into your life. Use the following questions to guide these moments of reflection.

2. Is it possible that you have "moved on" in life and left Jesus behind? a. Would you know if you had? b. Would you know it right away or would it take a while for you to notice?

Often when people tell me they haven't had God speak to them in a while I ask, "What is the last thing you heard Him say?" It's the spiritual equivalent of going back to the last place that you saw an item that you've misplaced. Mary and Joseph returned to Jerusalem to find Jesus? to find... to look for... to pursue.

3. What practical thing do you need to do to pursue Jesus? Share with the others in your group. Don't get all spiritualized and hokey! Keep it real.

4. What are you doing right now to pursue Jesus?

Purpose

Sunday we talked about purpose. It's clear that even from an early age, Jesus knew His purpose. It's also clear that after three years with Jesus the disciples had a clear sense of purpose as well.

5. Do you think we all need to have a purpose?

6. If you said, "Yes" why do you think we so often fail to live our purpose

7. Do you know what your purpose is?

8. Take a few moments and finish the following sentence: My purpose in life is to...

After a few moments of quiet reflection share your answer with the group.
