JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title: Communications Project Manager Current Job Holder: Department/Team: Corporate Services / CommunicationsDate Created: May 2011 Last Update: Nov 16 DEPARTMENT/TEAM DESCRIPTIONTo help deliver the sportscotland corporate and business plans by planning, delivering and monitoring sportscotland communications to all stakeholders which promote understanding and belief in the system for sport in Scotland, sportscotland’s contribution to the system and to measure the impact of communications is achieving.JOB PURPOSETo contribute to communications objectives by ensuring the delivery of projects, developing content and contributing across all relevant communications channels including web, social media, publications, collateral, integrated campaigns, events and branding.RESOURCES MANAGEMENTManagement responsibility for: No direct or indirect reports Reports to: Communications ManagerBudgetary Signing Limit up to: No signing authority but will oversee an element of the communications operational budgetKEY RESPONSIBILITIESManage communications projects from inception to completion Support communications activities across all channels within remit of roleManage and/or support the delivery and on-going consistency of specific communications activity Aid integration and engagement across all communications by working across the communications team and wider organisation Develop strong corporate language, style and messaging to be used across all platforms Assist the in the management of contractors, suppliers and other third party relationships as appropriateCoordinate coding and distributing invoices for payment and maintaining an incoming and outgoing budget database including the purchase order logDeputises for the Communications Manager as requiredTo undertake and/or assist with other departmental work, as demand requiresMAIN JOB REQUIREMENTSEducation:Educated to degree levelDegree within Marketing, Media or Communications studies or Postgraduate Diploma would be advantageous Specific Experience (Required):Strong and confident interpersonal skills including the ability to build relationships, influence and work effectively with a wide range of people in a variety of organisationsDemonstrable experience of developing effective and creative solutions to a variety of communications issues Demonstrable success in the effective management of multiple projects, deadlines and priorities Strong copy and editing skills across online and offline platformsExcellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to originate and edit concise and interesting copy for all channels, to a high standard and for different audiencesHigh level of computer literacy with good Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills and experienced in using Email and the InternetJOB CLASSIFICATION FACTORSKnowledge and Specialist Skills – (a) Knowledge and ExperienceTypically 3 years experience in an Officer level role within a Communications / Marketing / Media / PR environmentDemonstrable experience of leading cross-functional project teams to deliver events and projectsDemonstrable experience of project management to ensure successful planning, implementation and measurement Knowledge and Specialist Skills - (b) Level of Applied ExpertiseIs expected to be a knowledgeable expert in respect of content, channel, project and event related activities within remit of roleDemonstrable evidence of strong copy and editing skills across online and offline platformsExcellent organisational ability and a proven eye for detail, to ensure consistency of approach and high quality standards.Resource ManagementUnder the overall direction of the Communications Lead Manager, may be required to supervise work undertaken by consultants, agencies and cross functional teams Lead for the wider coordination of communications activity within remit of roleComplexity - (a) Problem SolvingComplexity will typically be around negotiation with key partners to mutual satisfaction, consistency of messaging across multiple audiences, breadth of work being communicated – requires managing expectations internally and finding solutions which fit the entire organisation, influencing colleagues who may not see the need to involve communications or heed adviceProblems faced will typically be of an operational and tactical nature Solving problems which can carry considerable PR risk as much work is in the public domainAble to deal with changing priorities within set timescales, often being required to meet tight deadlines Complexity -
