4852352-580231Job DescriptionDigital Content AssistantSalary:JFC1 ?17,914-?19,620 per annumLocation:EdinburghDirectorate:Digital Services Term:Fixed Term until 31st December 2020Hours:Full-time (Monday-Friday, 35 hours per week)Reports to:Content Editor OverviewThe Digital Content Assistant will support the Digital Content Editor to enhance Young Scot’s digital information and social media services through the development of digital and social media information content. Your work will help to ensure that young people across Scotland have access to the best, accurate, most relevant and timely information they need to make informed decisions and fulfil their potential.You will work alongside colleagues in the digital information team and together will optimise content for a range of social media channels, including young.scot, Snapchat, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, TikTok and Facebook.The RoleThe role will involve working creatively with the team to develop a wide range of content types for Young Scot’s various social media platforms and website, ensuring quality and accuracy of information. The post will support the creation of content, including video and audio content, by young people and volunteers and play a key role in scheduling social media content and answering enquiries.The role includes: Development of accurate, relevant and quality assured information content for young people in a variety of formats, aligned to youth information principals. Working collaboratively with the Content Editor to visually communicate key information content on Young Scot digital and social platforms.Supporting with the storyboarding, planning, recording and editing of video and audio content. Supporting the production of content by young people & volunteers.Responding to enquiries from members of the public through Young Scot social media channels and through the Young Scot Infoline. Planning and scheduling fresh content across a range of social media channelsProviding support and guidance to team members and partners around content development. Researching and developing current youth trends and potential new digital channels for Young Scot services.Carrying out other duties as requested by the Digital Content Editor. The PersonKnowledge and Experience (E=Essential, D=Desirable)Educated to Degree standard or equivalent relevant experience (E)Experience of online information and communication tools such as social media, video streaming, podcasts etc. (E)Experience of working effectively in a team and leading on own initiative. (E) Experience of creating written content (E) General understanding of various social media platforms’ functionality and features (E)Experience of producing and editing video and audio content, including illustration and animation (D)Experience of working with Adobe Creative Suite, in particular; Premiere Pro, Illustrator, After Effects and Photoshop. (D)Experience of providing administrative support in a team environment (D)Experience of working with content management systems. (D) Experience of working with users to gather feedback and to test systems. (D)Face to face working with young people.
