TRUTH HARDWARE CORPORATIONPOSITION DESCRIPTIONPosition:Value Stream Team LeaderDate: 10/7/2014Department:3180 Punch PressReports to:Value Stream Cell SupervisorJob PurposeDetermine priorities for, assign and coordinate work schedules of Value Stream personnel to ensure daily schedule of quality parts to be shipped is complete. Will be responsible for full and productive use of available working hours and machine time within the value stream.Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform daily walk through the value stream with Value Stream Cell Supervisor. Keep Value Stream Cell Supervisor informed of critical value stream issues.Coordinate shift start up and daily scheduling of employees by scheduling appropriate persons to the needed tasks.Lead daily team start-up meetingPrint necessary shop orders and daily dispatch to ensure parts and paperwork is available for all employees within the value stream. Chart performance tracking each pitch as indicated in standard work instructionsMaintains all visual aides by updating on a daily basisMonitors standard work by performing daily audit of one employee within the value streamPerforms task improvement assignments within the time frame givenActs as a resource, resolve problems and answer questions from value stream employees concerning job related daily activities or other problems that may occur. More difficult issues may be directed to Value Stream Cell Supervisor.Trains all new value stream employees.Reviews and updates next day’s labor plan. Determines and recommends overtime hours in order to meet deadlines.Meet with previous team leader to be updated on status of work and machines within the value stream.Ensures productivity is at acceptable levels and in accordance with established methods and procedures by coordinating daily work schedules. Sets job priorities based on scheduling tools, order entries, part availability, assigns appropriate employees to complete the tasks and monitors progress of work to achieve due date performance.Ensures product flow by following dispatch list, timely completion of shop order due dates, pull system procedures, clocking parts produced and completing associated paperwork.Schedules, performs and ensures preventative maintenance is completed on equipment and to the processes to prevent machine breakdowns and to minimize quality problems. Maintain process flow by completing minor tool and machine repairs. Assign major die repairs to Tool Room, major machine repairs to Maintenance. Ensures necessary supplies and parts are available for department personnel to complete job orders. Pre-stage parts at each assembly work center in the appropriate sequence to coordinate the order in which they are run.Assist Material Handlers and/or Operators with set-ups as necessary.Direction of othersActs as a group leader and provides work direction within the Value Stream; assigns and monitors work; trains others in methods and procedures. Supervision ReceivedSupervision is of a general nature, work will be reviewed on a daily basis. The incumbent is expected to refer only exceptional problems to the supervisor. Instructions are normally given in terms of general goals or ends to be achieved; analysis or choice of means, scheduling, etc., is left to the incumbent.Problem Solving and Decision MakingExercise judgment in determining job priorities for meeting value stream goals. Determine if parts conform to established quality standards and how to handle rejected parts. Errors in judgment may not be detected until they have caused noticeable costs in time and money.Relations with OthersHas an on-going working relationship with various employees within the assigned Value Stream, including Production Control, Quality , Shipping, Maintenance and Engineering. The incumbent will be expected to lead and participate in improvement tasks as assigned, and lead daily team meetings.Equipment OperatedMust be able to operate handcart, pallet jack, scales, repair tools, some measuring equipment and computer. Must be able to operate punch presses, straighteners, feeders, forklift, parts washer, overhead hoist and crane. Working Conditions and Work HazardsContinuously exposed to dirt, noise, vibration and oil fumes. Exposed to possible hazards of machine operation. Uniform safety practices consist of safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection and other devices as required.Physical Effort RequiredA variety of standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling and stooping. Occasional moderate to heavy lifting of steel, dies and other materials. Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination is necessary.Learning PeriodThree to six months on the job would be necessary to learn basic responsibilities. To handle all aspects of the job with minimal supervision would take approximately two years.QualificationsSkills/Abilities: Mechanical ability necessary as are leadership and communication skills. Certain positions covered by this job may require specialized technical knowledge and skills, such as tool and die, zinc or plastic injection molding, metal stamping, machining, metal finishing, and assembly.Training and Experience: High school or equivalent. Must have knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Materials Requirements Planning and Interaction Management concepts. Must complete CPR/First Aid Training. Must be an experienced Punch Press Operator. Forklift training required.Additional Qualifications: To have an understanding of all manufacturing processes including the scheduling and shipment of finished goods within the assigned Value Stream, as acquired while working at Truth.Please send resume to careers@. ................
