Characteristics of Life Comic Strip Assignment

DUE: FRIDAY, 9/12 (at the end of class)

Please use pp. 52-55 in textbook to assist you

Learning Goal: Create a comic strip that shows the characteristics of ALL organisms (needs and functions) in order to better understand the characteristics of life.

Directions: Create a comic strip using one or more types of organisms. Using this organism, provide an example for each of the 8 characteristics of life.

□ Sense and Respond to Change

□ Homostasis

□ Reproduce

□ Have DNA/genetic material

□ Use Energy

□ Grow and Develop

1. Title your comic strip in the first square. The title should say “The Characteristics of Life” or “The characteristics of ALL organisms.” Each box should have a characterisitic and create a title box. Don’t forget your name!

2. Each section should include:

□ One characteristic of life (only use each characteristic once)

□ An example or description for each characteristic. For example, a tree uses energy from the sun to make food or trees reproduce by creating seeds or cones that will grow into a new tree.

□ A picture that represents your written description of the characteristic.

3. Use colored pencils or crayons (not markers) to make your poster colorful and exciting to look at. We will display some examples from each class around the room .

*Don’t be afraid to use different kinds of organisms in your comic strip. Its OK to use whatever organism will help you remember each characteristic the best.
