❑ Know the definition of a simile, metaphor, irony, symbol, and personification and be able to recognize them from excerpts from The Perks of Being a Wallflower and lyrics from the songs Charlie made for Patrick

❑ Create the dramatic structure for The Perks of Being a Wallflower

❑ Know how Charlie views all the major characters in the story

❑ Know all the elements of fiction for the story

❑ Know the Methods of Characterization for all the major characters in the story

❑ Be able to compare and contrast major themes and issues in The Perks of Being a Wallflower and To Kill a Mockingbird

❑ Know the rules for identifying the subject, the simple predicate, prepositional phrases, and direct objects in a sentence

❑ Memorize the spelling and phonetic spelling of the S.A.T. words jaundice, corpulent, bourgeois, ostentatious, and auspicious. You must also know their etymology, parts of speech, and definitions. (You may not have any of this information on your test notes. If you do, you may not use any notes for the entire test.)
