FIRST ANNUAL SOUTH-CENTRAL COMMUNITY RESOURCE AND JOB FAIR

On Thursday, September 8th, the Probation Department

South Central Area Office hosted a South-Central Community

Resource and Job Fair. The free community event included

booths for several Community-Based Organizations and 40

companies, including UPS, Costco, and the Salvation Army.

During the event, Judge Kelvin D. Filer was honored for his

years of distinguished service. Robert Jackson Field Deputy

for Holly Mitchell¡¯s Office 2nd District presented the award.

FIRESTONE AREA OFFICE TEAM WIN 1ST PLACE IN "GREATEST LOSER" CHALLENGE

After seeing the Los Angeles County

Department of Human Resources

announcement for their Interagency

Greatest Loser Campaign, Supervising Typist

Clerk Cari Kenny rallied twelve of her

Firestone Area Office coworkers to take the

challenge. After the three-month contest was

over, The Fire Tone Warriors were crowned

the winners!

Together they had a 13.49% weight loss as a team, out-losing Heath Services Roybal BHI Team by more than 3.5% of

total team weight. ¡°Everybody started doing walks around the parking lot, and just watching what they ate,¡± said Ms.

Kenny. ¡°It wasn't like we all followed like a specific diet, but it was just being more mindful."
