Introduction

The PMP/TAP is a Profibus PA sensor which can be adjusted and configured via Simatic PDM. To do so you should have an EDD which describes the Profibus parameter set of the sensor.

You will find the EDD on the provided CD ROM. Additionally it is available

on the ifm homepage in

‘Service’ / ‘Download’.

The EDD has to be installed on your PC. This document guides you through the installation process.

Note:

This document only shows examples with PMP-devices. All Screenshots cann be applied to to the TAP as well.

Requirements

We assume that Simatic PDM 6.0 (at least SP1) is installed on your system. Refer to the system requirements on the PDM installation CD.

Installation

PDM Device Manager

Start SIMATIC MANAGER STEP7 VERSION 5.3.

Start ‘Manage Device Catalog…’ in this manager.

Select the CD directory D:\PMP\04 Software\EDD\PA_Sensor_Press_IFM_PMP_V119.

Note: Only the directory above the subdirectories ’catalog‘ and ‚config‘ shall be selected. This can be seen on the postfixed version number. This document will not be actualized in the same manner as version numbers increase. Meanwhile they can be different from this description.

If another directory is chosen all import efforts will fail.

Tipp:

If Simatic PDM 6.0 was installed without having imported at least a default set of devices (see CD Siemens Library, shipped with Simatic PDM ), following message appears.

In this case apply the Simatic PDM CD and import te default set of devices.

They are already pre-selected, see the following picture:

After this is done, you can continue importing the ifm Profibus sensors as described before.

In this dialogue select the PMP device and click on ‘OK’.

The following message is displayed:

The EDD and the respective GSD file (ifm_0A71.gsd) are now installed on your system.

Integration in Step7

Create a new project file in the Simatic Manager or use the project which is already open.

Give the new project file a name

In ‘View’ select ‘Process Device Network View’.

Open the context menu of the ‘Net’ node by right-clicking the mouse and insert a ‘PROFIBUS DP net’.

Open the context menu of the ‘PROFIBUS DP net’ node by right-clicking on the mouse and insert a PROFIBUS PA device.

The following message is displayed:

Click on ‘OK‘

The Profibus sensor has now been added to your network.

The next step is to assign the PMP to the new PROFIBUS PA device.

Select the ‘Specialist’ option.

In the Simatic PDM device catalog, ‘Profibus PA \ Sensors\ Pressure \ ifm‘ you can now see a device called ‘PMP‘.

Activate the PMP device and click on ‘OK’.

The PMP is now displayed in your Step7 Network View.

Doubleclick on PMP and PDM opens.

Select ‘Specialist‘ and click on’OK‘.

PDM now displays the Profibus parameters for the PMP.

Note: PDM opens the offline data of the PMP (in the last column ‘Initialwert‘ or ’Initial value‘ is displayed).

You have to perform an Upload to see the online data.

The PMP can now be handled like any other Profibus PA sensor.
