|Please provide the following information about the cladding that you intend to use so that we may properly design your building. Suggested information |
|source: The panel supplier and/or manufacturer. |
1) General Panel Requirements:
|Panel Manufacturer: |
|Panel Type and Gage: |
|i.e. Panel Rib, Through Fastened, SSR, Concealed Fastener |
|Panel Location: Roof / Walls / Full or Partially Sheeted (Sketch) |
|Trim Requirements: Not By VP By VP (VP std) Color? |
|Expansion / Contraction Limits: Expansion joints required? No Yes (Provide joint details & spacing) |
|Accessory Requirements: Not By VP By VP (VP std) |
|Louvers Doors Windows Other Flashing – Color? |
|Insulation Type / Thickness i.e. Blanket Insulation (Max. 6”), Rigid Board, etc. |
|Maximum Purlin Spaces: @ Corner Zones Ft. Panel supplier to provide maximum |
|@ Eaves / Rake Ft. purlin/girt spacing for wind pressure/ |
|@ Field of Roof Ft. suction and gravity loads as required |
|Maximum Girt Spaces: @ Corner Zones Ft. for this project. |
|@ Field of Wall Ft. |
2) Panel Strength and Stiffness Requirements:
Roof panels not provided by VP must resist all live, snow, rain and wind Loads required by the building official, specified building code and/or contract documents. Wall panels not provided by VP must resist all seismic and wind loads required by the building official, specified building code and/or contract documents. In addition, vertical loads from the dead weight of the panel, VP framing weight and weight from windows, louvers, etc., must be carried by the wall panels to the foundation.
Through Fastened panels that possess the minimum properties given below will be considered adequate to provide stability to the purlins and girts. In addition, purlin roll must be assessed on an individual project basis. The actual diaphragm strength and stiffness values requested below are required in order to make this assessment. If your panels do not meet the minimum requirements below, VP will assume purlins and girts as unbraced. This will require additional material and field labor. Call your Service Center for assistance.
THROUGH FASTENED PANEL MINIMUM PROPERTIES:
|Min. base metal thickness = 0.018” |NOTE: If the actual diaphragm strength and stiffness values for the panel |
| |system are unavailable, secondary members will require special bracing |
| |resulting in additional material and field labor. |
|Max. rib spacing = 12”; Min. rib ht = 1-1/4” (For single panel) | |
|Min. # 12 -14 structural fastener @ 1’-0” o.c. (avg.) | |
|Min. Yield: Fy = 50 ksi |Actual system diaphragm strength: kips/ft. |
|Max. insulation between panel and secondary = 6” |Actual system diaphragm stiffness: kips/ft |
For Concealed Fastener or Standing Seam type panels, the ability of the panels to provide the functions listed above must be substantiated by testing in accordance with AISI section F. The panel supplier must provide a stamped copy of the AISI Section F test results that substantiate the ability of the panel to provide the needed purlin restraint. In the event that the test results are not available, the purlins will be designed with special bracing as required by the AISI specification. This will require additional material and field labor. Call your Service Center for assistance.
Responsibility for determination and compliance with all structural requirements, special ratings, etc. pertinent to the panels belongs to the panel supplier. It is the responsibility of the Contractor and Architect/Engineer to coordinate compatibility between VP products and panels that are not provided by VP.
