-Bat sign placed behind the title to allow the audience to associate with the film.

-Image of Batman shot below so audience is looking up at him.

-The image connotes authority and power from his stance. It also connotes anger from his fists being clenched.

Burning building with bat sign burnt into it connotes destruction within Batman. This juxtaposes the view of him being seen as the protagonist.

-The baseball bat placed at the foot of the poster signifies violence as it is seen as a weapon. In contrast to the Kidulthood poster the placement of the bat signifies that Sam has grown up as he in particular is not holding it or using it as a weapon.

-Title shown in bold white to contrast the dark background and what the audience are drawn in to.

-Tagline shows the audience that the movie is a sequel.

Five star rating and quote from a well known film magazine persuades the audience to go and see the film.

Sky is overcast and dark to set a harsh mood and to portray the drama genre.

By Sam holding the bat in this poster in comparison with the ‘Adulthood’ poster it signifies his violent side and oblivion to his actions consequences.

The characters poses are very much the same as they are places above the audience, looking down on us and creating a feeling of intimidation.

The costumes are seen as being ‘chavvy’ and also portray the mise en scene as being a lower class city area.

The tag line catches the reader’s eye and both the title and tag line are shown in bold white to stand out against the dark background

Age certificate placed next to the title

Credits are placed in small print underneath the title as they are not the main focus

Credits placed at the foot of the poster as they are not the main focus to draw audiences in.

Main stars name placed at the head of the poster, almost the same size font as the title of the film. By doing this it promotes the film as Julia Roberts is a well known actress.

Credits placed at the foot of the poster with the production company being the first credit.

Tag line is quite long and not very catchy or in large font. However it is placed beneath the shadow of the husband to make the story line and genre clearer.

Central image is a close up shot in order to express the genre and connote fear and tension from the facial expressions.

Production company logo placed on the poster as well as the name in order to promote it to the audience as clearly as possible.

The central image makes her seem vulnerable and afraid as it is shot in a way to make her look at the open door and the figure standing behind it. This shot captivates the audience as it makes us want to know who it is as well.

Quote from ‘Time’ interacts with the audience as it gives an opinion on the movie therefore enticing us in.

Main actress’s name placed at the head of the poster so that it immediately stands out to us. It also has the same colour scheme as the title and is of similar size font suggesting that the actress’s name is a well known name amongst audiences.

Another quote at the foot of the page coincides with the quote at the head, establishing and reiterating how successful the movie is.

Central image is a close up of the protagonists face and immediately depicts the genre of violence due to her bruised face. The close up works as it magnifies the extent of her terror

The title is shown in bold in the middle of the page in order to stand out to us the most. The use of the colour scheme matches the word ‘burning’ in the title as it is what we associate with the colours of fire.

Black background connotes and emphasises the darkness of the film and the genre.

Much like in the poster for ‘sleeping with the enemy’ the shot is taken so that she is intently gazing into the distance at someone (or in proppian terms, the villain).

Credits are shown at the foot of the poster with the names capitalised and also in bold. The director Steven Spielberg is placed at the top of the credits as he probably has the most widespread recognition amongst an audience.

The age certificate is not of the most importance within the poster so is placed in small in the bottom right.

The purple background cleverly mirrors the title of the book, yet the use of the deep dark purple dramatises the image and connotes the genre for the audience.

Steven Spielberg (the director) is mentioned at the head of the poster and above the title of the film. By doing this it helps to promote the film.

Recognition of the author of the book (Alice Walker) is placed below the title

Tagline is short and effective at the same time. It also gives the audience a small insight into what the film is about.

Production company logo

The central image has been portrayed in a shadow effect. This connotes isolation towards who we can assume is the protagonist as she sits in the darkness.

The sun setting in the background connotes tranquillity and peace juxtaposing the genre. Yet we can also assume darkness not only in colour but also around the genre of the film for when it finally sets.

The black background is significant to the genre of the film as darkness holds the connotations of fear.

Title of the film is not capitalised and is placed beneath her to give the impression of hiding in the bath from what is behind the central image.
