Date: February 1, 2014 To: Professor GuenzelFrom: Magdalena Castillo Subject of my paper:?NursingPurpose: My Major and why writing about this topic will be beneficial to me: I have chosen to write my research paper on something related to the nursing field. I am very interested in this field because I plan on becoming a nurse in the future. After doing some internet research, I found that the technological advances in the nursing field would be interesting to do further research on. Technology such as social media is now being recognized and incorporated into the nursing field. Social media is changing the medial world and influencing nursing several positive waysPreliminary Thesis/Argument: Social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube are now being utilized in the nursing profession. These social media means are influencing the educational side of nursing in a positive way. The use of social media has also brought along other issues such as the ethical side to its use. Previous research has led me do further research on identifying in what specific ways social media is impacting nursing. Intended audience: The intended audience for my research paper are those who are also interested in pursuing a future in the nursing field, and those who want to learn something about nursing. The information I will provide will be tailored to the general public, such as those who are in their freshman or sophomore year of college. My goal is for the reader to learn something new and apply the information to other situations. My research paper could help those in the medical field, not only nurses but the field as a whole. Types of research areas: In order to effectively present my research question and thesis I will use different research areas to support my claims. I plan to use all three types of research, scholarly, internet, and field research. I believe if I use all three of these areas it will strengthen my paper. If I simply use scholarly journals the information might not be appropriate for my general audience. I want to incorporate information that my audience will understand and benefit from. I believe my major will accept all types of evidence because the will come from reliable sources. The medical field is very important in our society and everyone is involved in some way. I believe all of the areas of research will contain valuable information, and will help me to effectively present my argument.Kinds of sources I will use and why they will benefit my paper: I plan on using a variety of sources to support my argument. I plan to use the internet to find both informal and formal research. I am also going to talk to nurses in the field today, such as my parents. I think using a variety of sources will give my thesis statement enough support so my message will be clear for the audience to understand. I will conduct some of my research in the library where I have access to academic peer reviewed articles. I want to have my paper to contain as much evidence as possible. Graphs or charts: I will not be using any graphs or chartsDocumentation Style: I plan on using APA style for my research paper. APA format is used in the nursing discipline, therefore I must follow the guidelines. Tentative List of References: Lubbe, J., Roets, L., van Tonder, S., & Wilkinson, A. (2013).
