Brighton & Hove City Council's Youth Employability Service has been using Social Media as a tracking and engagement tool for NEET young people since 2009. Their work has gained both national and international recognition for its success and innovative practice in the field of digital media.
'Social Media for Youth Engagement' has been designed to develop participants' knowledge and understanding of social media and its relevance to maintaining contact with young people. Participants will explore developing a presence online, appropriate and safe responses, and will develop awareness of safeguarding online. The workshop is aimed at professionals working with young people in IAG delivery, youth work and engagement.
Course Objectives
• Demonstrate how and why Social Media can be beneficial to your work and service.
• Devise a strategy/strategies relevant to your own workplace and service.
• Development of Social Media protocol and guidelines for your service, in line with existing organisational policies.
• Show how to create engaging content and embed Social Media into your tracking processes.
Cost
• £200 private sector
• £150 local authorities
• £100 for charities and voluntary organisations
