The School Board of Page County Public Schools invites applications and nominations for the position of Superintendent.

THE COUNTY The Page Valley is situated between the Massanutten and Blue Ridge Mountains, and bordered on two sides by the George Washington National Forest and Shenandoah National Park. Page County consists of three towns, Shenandoah, Stanley and Luray, the county seat and home of the Luray Caverns; the county is located approximately 90 miles west of Washington, D.C. Primary sources of income for the approximately 25,000 residents are agricultural and tourism.

THE SCHOOLS Page County is home to 4 elementary schools, 2 middle schools (established in 2009), 2 high schools, and a technical education center. The student enrollment of approximately 3466 is supported by 310 professional instructional personnel, 26 administrative personnel and 308 support personnel. The 2012-2013 operating budget is $36,905,502 (includes $4,068,828 in Debt Service).

QUALIFICATIONS A person of high integrity and vision for student success; this person will have the ability to adapt to the specific

needs of Page County. Strong record of successful experience in the areas of instruction and curriculum, and familiarity with Virginia Stan-

dards. Demonstrated in-depth understanding of school finance with an ability to lobby for school funding. Ability to create an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect through community accessibility; superior listening

skills; capacity to advocate school issues and needs. Shared decision-making approach to administration; effective leadership in goal setting and planning. Demonstrated leadership qualities, preferably as a school superintendent or assistant superintendent, with additional

experience as a director, principal and classroom teacher. Evidence of continuing advanced studies; doctorate preferred.

Buena Vista City Public Schools (VA)

The School Board of the Buena Vista City Public Schools invites applications and nomination for the position of Superintendent. The anticipated date of hire is January 1, 2013.

THE CITY Buena Vista City is located by the Blue Ridge Mountains in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. Buena Vista is a town of just over 6,000 residents. It is approximately 6 miles east of Lexington, 50 miles north of Roanoke, and 165 miles southwest of Washington, D.C. Southern Virginia University is located in Buena Vista, and Lexington is home to Washington and Lee University and the Virginia Military Institute.

Craig County Public Schools (VA)

The Craig County School Board is seeking a qualified, visionary leader for our small school division, with proven managerial and personnel skills as well as a substantial foundation in K-12 instructional methods. The candidate should have the ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, the community, and political leaders at the local and state level. The successful candidate must have previous administrative experience in a position that requires a strong financial management skill set. The Board can only consider applicants who are currently on or are qualified to be on the Superintendent Eligibility List. Salary: The starting salary for the Superintendent position has been budgeted between $79,000 and $84,000, depending upon qualifications. Franklin County Public Schools (VA)

Franklin County is located along the State Route 220 corridor between Roanoke County to the north and Henry County to the south, being 10 miles due south of the City of Roanoke, Virginia. The County is bordered by Smith Mountain Lake, Philpott Lake and the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is also the home of Ferrum College and the Booker T. Washington National Monument. The Town of Rocky Mount, a Virginia Main Street Community, is the county seat and is located along State Routes 220 and 40. The 2011 population estimate for Franklin County is 56,419. Wilkes-Barre Area School District (PA)

The Wilkes-Barre Area School District is located in Luzerne County, PA. The district includes the City of Wilkes-Barre as well as smaller surrounding municipalities. It serves Bear Creek Township, Borough of Bear Creek Village, Borough of Laflin, Buck Township, City of Wilkes-Barre, Laurel Run Borough, Plains Township and Wilkes-Barre Township. The district's 6,700 students attend one of nine schools ? five elementary schools, a junior high school and three high schools. The Municipalities served by the Wilkes-Barre Area School District include approximately 60,000 residents and offers a wide diversity of opportunities and activities for everyone. It is home to five area colleges and is considered a regional center for business and education. The successful candidate should have central office experience, a doctorate and must possess a Pennsylvania Letter of Eligibility. Sapulpa Public Schools (OK) The Sapulpa Board of Education (Sapulpa, Oklahoma) is seeking a superintendent to assume leadership of the district beginning July 1, 2012. Sapulpa is a diverse suburban community outside the Tulsa area. The Board of Education is seeking a candidate with high moral values who is self-motivated and proactive in their leadership approach, is passionate about education and students, and can think outside the box in order to lead Sapulpa Public Schools to a level of prominence in our state. A clear understanding of the Oklahoma school funding formula is necessary. Also, the candidate should be a great communicator and an obvious leader. The successful candidate will need to be active in civic groups and be very community oriented. The salary range for this position will be negotiated between the Board of Education and the successful candidate. Residency within the district will be required. Macon County School District (NC) Macon County is located in southwestern North Carolina and has a population of about 34,000 residents. While only a little over two hours drive to Atlanta, GA; Knoxville, TN; and Greenville/Spartanburg, SC, Macon County remains nearly pristine in both its natural resources and "Main Street" charms. The Nantahala National Forest covers almost onehalf of the county. The school system includes eleven schools and serves approximately 4,400 students in prekindergarten through twelfth grade. There are four elementary schools and one intermediate, one middle, and one high school located within an eight-

mile radius of Franklin, the county seat. There are also two K-12 schools, one in Nantahala and one in Highlands. Union Academy serves grades six through twelve. The school system operates an Early College High School in partnership with the Southwestern Community College-Macon Campus. The college sits on 20 acres and offers technologyenhanced learning in a high-tech, state-of-the-art facility.
