Krista Edelman, MD
Dr. Krista Edelman grew up in Ashland, VA and went to the University of Mary Washington for her undergraduate studies where she graduated with an honors degree in Biology. She received her medical degree from VCU School of Medicine and continued her training at VCU where she completed her internal medicine residency.
While at VCU, Dr. Edelman served as the Women's Health Track Director overseeing women's health specific clinical rotations and teaching sessions. Dr. Edelman received the John W. Witherspoon Award for Excellence in Primary Care and the Medicine Faculty Award upon completion of residency. Dr. Edelman served a year as chief resident at VCU before moving to Durham, NC to complete a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Duke University. During her time at Duke, she worked on research projects studying diagnostic testing of anorectal manometry. Additionally, she received the American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society scholarship to further her motility training at Washington University.
As part of Richmond Gastroenterology Associates, Dr. Edelman will be treating a variety of conditions including inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel disease including chronic diarrhea and constipation, gastro-esophageal reflux, gastrointestinal bleeding, swallowing disorders, pelvic floor dysfunction, celiac disease and liver disease. She has a specific interest in women's health and performs colonoscopies, upper endoscopies, and hemorrhoid banding. She is a member of ASGE, ACG, AGA and serves on the American College of Gastroenterology Women in GI Committee.
Dr. Edelman is delighted to be back in Richmond, and to be seeing patients in this area. She is accepting new patients and referrals at Richmond Gastroenterology Associates.
