Downtown Fool's Gold, California is awash in Christmas decorations, ready for the rush of visitors the small mountain resort town entertains each year. Co-owners of Paper Moon Bridal, Maddie Krug (Rachel Skarsten) and Isabel (Crystal Lowe) are adding last-minute touches to the shop's d?cor, while Isabel bemoans their sluggish business and how they might need to close if things don't improve. Maddie, ever the optimist, assures her that they'll make it.

Ginger (Emily Tennant) and her fianc? Oliver (Blair Penner), while shopping for a wedding dress, confess to Maddie that they have made no plans for their wedding, which is taking place at Christmas right there in Fool's Gold. Ginger begs Maddie to plan the wedding, but Maddie is not a wedding planner and is not interested; that is, until Isabel reminds Maddie that perhaps this could open doors to new business. After accepting, Maddie and Ginger become fast friends as they set about plans for Ginger's nuptials.

Upon arriving in Fool's Gold, action movie star Johnny Blake (Trevor Donovan) meets Maddie, who is utterly surprised to learn he is Ginger's brother, and the guy who is paying for the wedding. Unimpressed by his celebrity, Maddie is also a bit put-off by Johnny's take-charge attitude toward the wedding. Working with this guy is not going to be easy, but her business needs the business, so work with him she will.

Before long, Johnny finds himself falling in love with Fool's Gold and its townspeople. And the more time they spend together, the more Johnny and Maddie realize they are falling for one another. But Maddie is still reeling from her ex's sudden departure, is not ready to trust again, and insists that she and Johnny remain just friends. Soon, however, Maddie realizes what Johnny already has...that they are a great match.

However, when a mix-up convinces Maddie that Johnny is secretly dating his co-star and Isabel's attempts to promote the shop land Johnny in the middle of a tabloid frenzy, neither is willing to forgive, or talk to, the other. That is, until Johnny discovers the truth about the tabloid photos and figures out a plan, with advice from Maddie's dad, to get her alone one more time in the hope that he can convince her to give them another chance at love.
