You can choose to add further information on separate sheets of paper.Receipt of these reports will ensure that the name of your organisation remains on the Department’s Non-profit Organisation Register. SECTION B: THE ORGANISATION’S MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS OVER THE PAST YEAR:Activities (projects and programmes) for the reporting yearHow beneficiaries benefitted Trips, Camps and Excursions:2 Overnight Hiking Trails (3-days each), Zimbabwe mission trip (5 days), Britstown mission trip (3 days), Gr 11 & 12 “Dare to Dream” Camp (hosted by 3D), Royal Family Kids Camp (6 days)Full-time 3D students go on various trips, camps and excursions. These activities make students more environmentally aware and expose them to new geographic locations. They plan, serve, function in leadership roles and interact cross-culturally. They gain valuable informal work experience through these initiatives. Community Involvement:Community impact sessions (12 per year), serving within the local church (weekly for 1 year) , Shanan Christian School’s Gr1 Diploma Day, Shanan games evening, Salvation Army ice-cream outreach to Government VillageThese opportunities give the students chance to make a positive impact in their community. Doing something good for others builds good character. They also become more aware of the needs of those less-fortunate. Life Skills Training – Topics include:Decision-making, ironing & household chores, cooking, SMARTER goal setting, missions fundraising, communications & conflict resolution training, dealing with change, auto session and tyre-changing practical, presentation and public-speaking skills, planning & time management training, study skills, finance & budgetingVarious life skills are taught to our students to equip them to become independent adults. Many of the skills they learn assist them in obtaining work and enable them to excel in their jobs. They are taught to self-manage, to relate better to others and skills that help them succeed.Discipleship Training – Topics include:6 non-credit modules through Zion Ministerial Institute (Doctrine 1 & 2, Principles of Prayer, Hearing God’s Voice, True Christianity, Victory over the self-centered life, Financial Freedom), Spiritual giftings Questionnaire, MVI Missions trainingVarious modules enable them to grow spiritually. These studies also stretch them academically since they are required to do a fair amount of reading, assignments, assessments and exams. Critical reasoning skills are also developed. This develops skills necessary to succeed in higher education.Personal Development – Topics include:Various teambuilding sessions, personal branding, gifts & goals development time, weekly exercise sessions, leadership training, one-on-one mentorship, self & peer evaluations, “Sex, Dating and Relating” Mark Gungor DVD series for Teens, nutrition & healthy eating, understanding emotions development (EQ), The “Destiny Series”, Senior’s graduation.Students grow and mature through these activities. They come to understand more about themselves, their strengths and their weaknesses. They learn to relate to others more effectively. They also develop skills for healthy and happy living. They are taught about achieving balance in life and come to understand their own personal values.Career and Work Training/ Exposure – Topics include:Entrepreneurial development, NBI Thinking Preference Assessment, university visits – Wits & Pretoria, corporate marketplace visits (SKF, Glynwood Hospital, LTA-Grinaker), Benoni High Career Day, “48 Days to the Work You Love” Dan Miller Series, individual job-shadowing, YES Programme (Career Direct), CV writing and interview skills, small business managementStudents receive career guidance and discover how they fit into the marketplace. They are exposed to various work industries and study opportunities. They develop the skills that will enable them to interview well and plug into the world of work effectively.
