Planning for supporting the World Winter Games began in April 1999. Meetings were conducted periodically between Department of Military Support (DOMS), ALCOM, Alaska National Guard, Third Wing, U.S. Army Alaska, and the 2001 World Winter Games Organizing Committee. ................
