Signing into West Virginia People's Access to Help (WV PATH)

WV PATH features added security to protect your account and personal information. You will be required to enter a unique code to securely access your account online.

If you are using WV PATH to apply for programs or services offered through WV DHHR for yourself or your household and have not created an Optum GovID, click the Create Optum GovID link on the sign in page and follow the prompts to do so prior to signing in. If you already have an Optum GovID, use the following instructions to sign into the WV PATH Public Portal.

On the WV PATH Public Portal Landing Page, do one of the following: Click Sign In at the top of the page. Click the Go button on the My Account tile. Click the Apply button on the Apply Now tile.

Complete the following steps: A. Enter either your Optum GovID or the email address used to create your account. B. Enter your password. C. Click the SIGN IN button.

The Sign in: Verify Your Identity page displays. Complete the following steps:

A. Select how you would like to verify your identity. B. Click the NEXT button.

If you selected Primary Email or Secondary Email, the Sign In: Access Code page displays. Continue to the next step. If you selected Text message, the Sign In: Access Code page displays. Otherwise, the Sign In: Call Me page displays.

Receiving an Access Code by Email

Note: If you did not include a Primary Phone number when you set up your Optum GovID, you will automatically be sent an email with an Access Code. This same message will appear if you selected to verify your Primary or Secondary Email.

From your email account, open the email sent from noreply@ with the Subject: Access Code Notification.

Note: If you did not receive this email, do one of the following: 1. Click the Resend Email link on the Sign In: Access Code page to have the email re-sent, or 2. Click the Cancel and try another verification option link on the Sign In: Access Code page to select a different option, or 3. Contact the Technical Call Center (TCC) for assistance by calling (844) 451-3515 or emailing wvtcc@

Entering your One-Time Access Code from Email You will have ten minutes from the time you receive the Access Code to enter it into WV PATH. Complete the following steps:

A. Copy Your One-Time Access Code from the email.

B. Paste the Access Code in the Access Code field. C. Click the NEXT button.

Note: If you are signing in on a personal device that you wish to register, you can skip this step in the future by selecting the Skip this step when signing in because this device is personal or private check box. If you are using a public device, do not select this check box.

Receiving an Access Code by Text You will have ten minutes from the time you receive the Access Code to enter it into WV PATH.

A. Open the text containing your one-time access code. Note: If you did not receive the text, do one of the following: 1. Click the Resend Text link on the Sign In: Access Code page to have the text re-sent, or 2. Click the Return to verify identity options link on the Sign In: Access Code page to select a different option, or 3. Contact the Technical Call Center (TCC) for assistance by calling (844) 451-3515 or emailing wvtcc@

B. Enter the access code in the Access code field. C. Click the NEXT button.

Note: If you are signing in on a personal device that you wish to register, you can skip this step in the future by selecting the Skip this step when signing in because this device is personal or private check box. If you are using a public device, do not select this check box.
