He has called every one of us by name, as the Good Shepherd 'calls His sheep by name." ~ Pope John Paul IICentering Words: The Good Shepherd calls his sheep by name. Great is thy faithfulness!Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed thy hand hath provided;Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!Summer and winter and springtime and harvest, sun, moon and stars in their courses above,Join with all nature in manifold witness to thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.[Refrain]Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth, thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside![Refrain]* Call to Confession Pastor AdrianThe scriptures compare us to sheep who have gone astray. As sheep seem not to see beyond the next tuft of grass, we seem to be attracted to the immediate temptation. We become ravenous consumers rather than good stewards of God's abundance. Christ calls us to respond to the Shepherd's voice. Together, let us confess our sin ...* Prayer of Confession – Silent PrayerPatient God, you know how easy it is for us to stray. We wander off so easily. Forgive us, we pray. Heal our brokenness and our fears. Remind us again that you lead us in gentle paths and by quiet waters – when the paths are stony and the waves tumultuous help us to remember your protection and your care. Help us to extend that same love and care to others, for we ask this in Jesus' Name. Amen. [Silent Prayer]* Words of AssuranceJust when we think we can go no further, Jesus the Good Shepherd calls to us, bringing us safely into the fold of Grace and Mercy. Rejoice! You are loved completely and forgiven! Thanks be to God! Amen.* Hymn of Praise "Halle-Halle-Halleluja" (x2) Halle-Halle-Halleluja. Halle-Halle-Halleluja. Halle-Halle-Halleluja. Halleluja. There is more than enough for all when we who break bread together are willing to share ourselves and our possessions. We offer Christ's healing example to a world shattered by selfishness, strangers to God and one another. * Doxology Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise God, all creatures here below; Praise God for all that love has done; Creator, Christ, and Spirit, One. Amen. * Prayer of DedicationThanks, Lord, for all the wonderful gifts with which you have blessed our lives. Take these gifts,, these tokens and use them to build your realm, to heal the broken hearted, bind up those who are wounded, welcome the stranger, become the gate of hope for we ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.Celebrating the Sacrament of Holy CommunionHymn in Preparation "As We Gather at Your Table"As we gather at your table, as we listen to your word, help us know, O God, your presence; let our hearts and minds be stirred.Nourish us with sacred story till we claim it as our own;teach us through this holy banquet how to make Love's vict’ry known.Turn our worship into witness in the sacrament of life;send us forth to love and serve you, bringing peace where there is strife.Give us, Christ, your great compassion to forgive as you forgave;may we still behold your image in the world you died to save.Gracious Spirit, help us summon other guests to share that feastwhere triumphant Love will welcome those who had been last and least. There no more will envy blind us nor will pride our peace destroy,as we join with saints and angels to repeat the sounding joy.Preparing the TableNote to Guests: Through the waters of baptism; we are born into Christ’s family. That family is nourished and sustained at this table. Though we are baptized but once, in the Lord’s Supper we reaffirm our commitment to Christ, and God renews us with grace. This is the joyful feast of the people of God! Our Savior invites everyone to share the feast, which he has prepared.Invitation to the TableThe God who leads us to green pastures and still waters has brought us together here at the table. God has prepared this table in our midst where our cup overflows with God's abundance. God has set this table, it is God's and so we welcome all to come and eat and drink from it.The Prayer of Great ThanksgivingL: The Lord is our shepherd,P: Our guide, our comforter, our protector.L: And so we give thanks,P: For green pastures, for overflowing cups, for ongoing presence. ALL: It is good to give thanks!L: God of Creation, God of Life, God of Love, as we gather at this table we remember many gifts: the world around us, bursting with the springtime promise of new life; family and friends with whom we share our lives; food and drink to sustain our bodies; your abundance overflowing in our lives. We remember that you have always had a hope, a vision for how we would live together in peace and justice. And yet we remember that we have often lost sight of the vision, have left peace and justice in the dust. And yet, like a shepherd searching for a lost lamb, you have not given up on your children - sending prophets to call us back to the hope, reminding us how we are meant to live, challenging us to change our ways. And so we rejoice with all your people of every time and place, and with angels and archangels, to proclaim the glory of your name:P: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. The Words of InstitutionL: Remembering the life of Jesus, we consider what he taught. He welcomed all into his presence, offering words of love and forgiveness where others offered judgment. He ate with those others called outcasts. He spoke of a new way of living, of a world that would be changed, of a Kingdom of love and peace and justice. He called us to the table of life, where we are fed in abundance. For being true to his understanding of God, Jesus was arrested, tried, and executed. Put to death on a cross. He knew the darkness of the valley of shadow, he felt abandoned. And yet, O God, you were there. And then, even as his friends walked in the valley of darkness and shadow, something amazing happened.Where they looked for signs of death they found the promise of life. An empty tomb, a resurrected Christ, a changed world. And so in this Easter season we proclaim the joy of New Life.On the night before Jesus died, he took a loaf of bread, gave thanks, broke it, and said, "Take and eat, whenever you do this, do so in remembrance me." After supper, Jesus took the cup, and poured it, saying,"This is the new covenant, sealed in my blood, drink in remembrance of me."We do remember. We remember his life of love, his friendship, his teaching, his dying, and his rising to life again. In sharing this meal, we live out the mystery of our faith:P: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.L: Guiding, comforting, protecting God; send your Spirit upon and among us here and now and upon these gifts of bread and cup. Through the presence of the Spirit may we hear the voice of the Good Shepherd, calling us out to new pastures, leading us to fresh waters, comforting and protecting us with rod and staff and love. Spirit of life and love, fall upon us all, we pray these things in the name of the Good Shepherd, the Risen Christ, who taught his friends to pray together saying:Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. Breaking the Bread, Pouring the CupL: The Bread we break is the Bread of Life. (bread is broken) The Cup we Share is the Cup of Love. (cup is poured) Here at this table we share the abundance of God's gifts. (Virtual instruction: We will first serve the elements to those physically present. While this is taking place have your elements prepared at home. Once all are served we will lift the elements together and say, "These are the gifts of God for the people of God." The pastor will continue, "come, for all things are ready!" We will then share in this sacred meal together at the pastor's prompting.)Prayer After CommunionGod our shepherd, we have gathered at the table you have prepared. We have eaten, we have drunk, we have tasted your overflowing abundance. May this meal embolden, enrich, and nurture us as we go out to live as people of The Way. And may goodness and mercy flow through us all the days of our lives. May we live in your presence forever. Amen.GOING INTO THE WORLD* Closing Hymn "Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us" Savior, like a shepherd lead us, much we need thy tender care;In thy pleasant pastures feed us, for our use thy folds prepare:Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, thou hast bought us, thine we are;Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, thou hast bought us, thine we are.We are thine; in love befriend us, be the guardian of our way;Keep thy flock, from sin defend us, seek us when we go astray:Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, hear, thy children when we pray;Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, hear, thy children when we pray.Early let us seek thy favor; early let us do thy will;Blessed Lord and only Savior, with thy love our spirits fill:Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, thou hast loved us, love us still;Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, thou hast loved us, love us still.* Benediction Pastor Adrian* Final Response "First Song of Isaiah" Surely, it is God who saves me; I will trust in him and not be afraid For the Lord is my stronghold and my sure defense and he will be my Savior.+++++++++Copyright Info:New Revised Standard Version Bible, copyright ? 1989 National Council of the Churches of Christ in the United States of America.
