JEEP? ACTIVE DRIVE I. Seamless operation in and out of 4WD at any speed

is achieved with a fully automatic, single-speed power transfer unit (PTU). Equipped with a rear-axle disconnect, you can go from four-wheel drive to two-wheel drive, and back again, without driver input. This results in reduced energy loss when 4WD capability is not required, which can improve fuel efficiency.
