Bio for Shawndra: - Sanskrit Healing

About Shawndra :

I am an Usui Reiki Master, telepathic communicator, vibrational healer (using forks, sound and color) and an intuitive healer. As a ‘conduit’, I’m able to transfer Universal Life Energy to assist with healing, stress reduction, relaxation, chakra balancing and continued good physical and mental health.

The name ‘Shawndra’ is actually ancient Sanskrit and means ‘She outshines the stars’. My mother thought she had made up this name for me. But when I was about 14, we met another Shawndra, and her mother told us of the heritage. We then later met a male Chandra from India and he confirmed the name, the meaning and wrote it out for me in Sanskrit.

My philosophy is that we are all part of the circle of life – each and everyone of us has purpose, is worthy of respect, and has a place within this circle. This includes all animal life, the environment – everything. In a circle, nothing has more importance than any other, every part is needed for a complete and strong circle. It’s the ‘bringing together’ of the many diverse elements and beliefs that help us to heal and stay healthy. When we open ourselves to respecting all things, we invite tolerance, healing, compassion and love for ourselves and for everything around us. I don’t believe there is only one ‘right’ way. We each need to honor what is ‘right’ for us, and also honor what is ‘right’ for another.

As long as I can remember, I have felt an obligation to leave this world better than I found it. Looking back, I can see that my choices have guided me in that direction. I began my healing career by learning color therapy in the mid 1980’s. The vibration of color, and our physiological response to undertones and intensities can have enormous impacts on our lives and our healing.

My next step was to learn telepathic animal communication. This has been an incredible experience for me, for other humans and for the animals. I have used this with wild animals, captive animals and pets. We all have this ability, in fact, most of us probably already communicate with our pets. It’s the listening that we really need to learn and focus on. By learning to listen to what the animals are saying – by being able to have a two-way conversation with them – it has allowed me to help animals and their humans in ways I never would have imagined.

I then became interested in Reiki - I wanted to do something that was loving, respectful and healing. As a Reiki Master, I am able to focus that loving, healing energy in ways that amaze even me. I have found Reiki to be of enormous benefit to humans, animals, plants – all living things, and all situations. At about this same time, I began working with tuning forks. By combining the healing energy of sound, vibration and Reiki, my healing sessions became even more powerful. Energy is fascinating to me, there’s so much healing we can do without drugs and chemicals. Healing can of course, happen remotely, as energy knows no boundaries. So, no matter where a human or animal is, I can tune in to them and their energy and send healing.

I have also been a volunteer at Wolf Haven International in Tenino, Washington since April of 1997. This is a facility that rescues captive wolves that have nowhere else to go. We also participate in the reintroduction program of the Mexican Gray Wolf and the Red Wolf – two of the most endangered mammals in the world. Even without touching any of the captive wolves, I’m able to help them heal, come to terms with living in a captive situation, and most importantly, learn from them. As an educator to the public (giving tours) on the need for predators in the wild, on ways to protect our environment, and what we can do to make ethical choices, this is yet another way I fulfill my desire to leave things better than before.

This amazing journey I’m on has taken many turns, and I eagerly look forward to what comes next. I am honored to help humans and animals to be more healthy, to release things that no longer serve them in a positive way, and to bridge the gap between our ‘languages’. Being a healer is my life’s calling and one that brings me immense joy. I thank you for sharing this path with me, if only for a few minutes. Be happy, and be well.

Vibrational Healing:

Tuning forks:

Tuning forks are powerful, deeply transformational, non-invasive healing that incorporate, sound and vibration via specially tuned forks onto acupuncture/acupressure, and other key points on the body, to re-harmonize and attune the human energy field.

Tuning forks have been used effectively to treat a wide variety of ailments including musculo-skeletal, neurological, psycho spiritual, emotional & psychological, and many other chronic and debilitating conditions. This holistic modality uses sound and vibration to heal the body, mind, and spirit.

Before the session begins you will be asked to determine what areas you would like to focus upon.  Based on the information you provide, I will work with you to design an individualized treatment plan to meet your needs. Based on your treatment goals, specialized tuning forks are struck on an activator then placed on various acupuncture/acupressure points on your body or held near your ears.

The sound waves of the forks vibrate and travel deeply into the body along energy pathways, affecting human physiology and reaching places not easily accessed by traditional medicine.  Applying the forks stimulates and balances the body's physical and subtle energy field to promote healing and inner harmony.

Often, you will be asked to indicate any sensations or reactions that your experience during the session.  This will help me to better customize your session and accelerate your overall improvement. The forks, combined with Reiki are a very powerful and effective way of healing.

Color therapy:

The system I was taught was originally developed by a scientist for institutionalized autistic children. The hope was that by determining the appropriate undertone and intensity for each child, it would help to calm the child and improve their lives. It was discovered that with color therapy alone, not only did the children calm down, but the vast majority of these children were actually able to return home to live with their families. The vibration of color, and our physiological response to undertones and intensities can have enormous impacts on our lives and our healing – not just with autistic people, but all living beings. Something that seems so simple, can be so very powerful.

The effects of color on our moods, health, and way of thinking have been studied by scientists for years. Your preference for one color over another may be related to the way that particular color (undertone and intensity) makes you feel.

Colors are visible light energy of certain wavelengths. Photoreceptors in the retina, called cones, translate this energy into colors. The retina contains three kinds of cones: one for blue, one for green, and one for red. We perceive other colors by combining these colors.

When the energy of color enters our bodies, it stimulates the pituitary and pineal glands. This in turn affects the production of certain hormones, which in turn affect a variety of physiological processes. This explains why color has been found to have such a direct influence on our thoughts, moods, and behavior-an influence that many experts believe is distinctly separate from psychological and cultural factors. Color seems to have an effect even on blind people, who are thought to sense color as a result of energy vibrations created within the body.

There are seven chakras in our body. They control our emotions, mental attitudes  that can cause or reflect and imbalance within that particular center. The first step in color healing through chakras is to determine which chakra is out of balance, which I do with you. Once we determine the chakra(s) most likely to have been adversely affected, we can then take measures to correct them. Color therapy, along with Reiki, is simple and effective in this process.

Animal Communication:

I have communicated with animals all my life – I’ve had a special bond with them for as long as I can remember. The empathy I have felt for them since I was a little girl has just continued to grow throughout my life. When I finally really learned how to hear what they are saying, to really listen to them, my life changed forever. Developing telepathic communication with animals has allowed me to bridge the gap with humans and their non-human companions, with wild animals, and it’s allowed me to learn and grow more than I ever would have without their help.

We’re all capable of telepathic communication, it just takes some training and lots of practice. When we draw on the energy and the love that is greater than us, we open ourselves to so much more, to seeing beyond our egos and seeing what is true, what is of value.

In this day an age, many of us are looking for something deeper, something real. We know there’s more out there, we know that animals are capable of communicating, we just need to listen. When you look at the roots of the word ‘telepathy’, you’ll find that it means “feeling across a distance”. Telepathic communication involves the direct transmission of feelings, intentions, thoughts, mental images, emotions, impressions, sensations and pure knowing. I have experienced all of these and more, in my communications with non-humans.

Animal communication is really a Soul Connection. It’s two souls touching, a spiritual connection that is more profound that what we’re used to with each other. Each soul has moral, emotional and spiritual elements. As we all know, you can look into a Being’s eyes and see into their soul.

A conversation with your animal companion can be done in person or remotely – it’s a Spirit connection that knows no boundaries. I don’t need to be with them physically in order to hear them and communicate with them. Whether there is a specific behavioral or physical issue, or you’d just like to know how they’re feeling, or something else entirely, animal communication may very well be the answer for you. Each animal is unique and has a unique way of communicating with me. That’s one of the things I love – it’s not just words. There can be feelings, images, thoughts, emotions, knowings, and so much more as we communicate with each other.

Animal communication requires compassion for all living beings. Compassion is based on empathy. True compassionate journeys recognize, respect, revere and support the goals of every Being on the planet, it’s a reverence for all life.

Because it’s a Spirit connection, I’m also able to communicate with animals that have crossed over. The Spirit doesn’t die, the physical body may change, but we always have the opportunity to communicate on a spiritual level. Sharing their thoughts, their love after they have passed on has been a tremendous blessing for the human family members. Being able to say ‘I love you’ once again and knowing that they are safe, is a great comfort to us.

Being able to communicate with animals helps us to find solutions, ease pain and suffering, and maybe even to come to terms with things out of our control. Animals are excellent teachers – if we’ll just listen. By opening ourselves up in this way, we give ourselves the opportunity to evolve into the loving, compassionate Beings we really are.

Reiki:

In its simplest form Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is me placing my hands on you (or a few inches away from you) with the intent of bringing healing. As a ‘conduit’, I am able to transfer Universal Life Energy to assist with healing, stress reduction, chakra balancing, relaxation and continued good physical and mental health for you.

Reiki has been used effectively for thousands of years to treat a wide variety of ailments including musculo-skeletal, neurological, psycho spiritual, emotional & psychological, and many other chronic and debilitating conditions. It also is extremely beneficial for relaxation and as a way to continue your good health.

We are alive toady because life force is flowing through us. Life force flows within the physical body through pathways known as meridians, chakras and nadis. This energy also flows around us and is called the aura. When the flow of this energy is disrupted, it causes diminished function in one or more of the organs and tissues of the physical body.

This life force is also responsive to thought and feelings. It becomes adversely affected when we accept either consciously or unconsciously, negative concepts about ourselves. These negative feelings attach themselves to the energy field, or aura, and cause damage to the correct balance of our physical body. I am sure we have all experienced that when we are sad or have been upset, our physical health seems to suffer.

Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the aura in and around the physical body. It relaxes the mind and puts the patient in an almost meditative state, which helps the body perform self-healing from within. The body will always try to heal itself but this process cannot function properly when we are sending negative thoughts to it all the time and becoming stressed. By doing this, we are constantly impeding the healing process and this allows disease to set in.

The effects of a Reiki treatment are as follows:

1. It helps the body get back into balance.

2. It increases awareness in intuition.

3. It works on healing the whole person.

4. Amplifies what energy you already have.

5. Works on the causal level of disease.

6. Releases stress.

7. Helps to release old stored negative emotions.

8. Increases creativity.

As a Reiki practitioner, I am not responsible for generating this healing energy. I am allowing the higher energy to flow through my body, acting as a channel of healing energy. And, as energy knows no boundaries, I am also able to focus the Reiki energy and send it remotely. So, treatments can occur in person or thousands of miles away.

Before the session begins you will be asked to determine what areas you would like to focus upon.  Based on the information you provide, I will work with you to design an individualized treatment plan to meet your needs.

I, like many others, believe that specific disease conditions are symptoms of an underlying imbalance. Reiki does not neglect relief of these symptoms, but its main focus is on the big picture: to restore balance and to help you create such a healthy lifestyle that the imbalance won't occur again.

Living in health and balance is the key to a long life free from disease.

Perhaps the most important lesson we can learn is that our health is up to us. Every day of our lives, every hour of every day, we can, and do, choose either health or illness. When we choose wisely, nature rewards us with health and happiness. When we persistently choose unwisely, nature, in her wisdom, eventually sets us straight: She makes us sick and gives us a chance to rest and rethink our choices. The hope is that we listen and learn before illness or injury is so great that we don’t have the opportunity to restore ourselves.

Xango:

From the rich lush rainforest of Southeast Asia comes a fruit (the Mangosteen) so heavenly in taste Queen Victoria of England referred to it as “The Queen of Fruits”. This fruit (about the size of a tangerine and dark purple in color) has been used and revered for centuries in folk medicine, by Ayurvedic healers and in Chinese preparations as a primary source of medicinal healing.

What is amazing is that Mangosteen has never been utilized for its scientifically proven health benefits in the Western hemisphere and Europe until recently despite its history and popularity in Southeast Asia and South America.

In India and China, preparations made from the rind of the fruit have been used for centuries as anti-microbial and anti-parasitic treatments for dysentery and other infectious disease.

In Thailand, villagers of all ages use the Mangosteen to treat infected wounds, skin disorders (such as eczema and psoriasis), malaria and urinary tract infections.

In South America, tea made from the Mangosteen is used as a tonic for fatigue and low energy levels, a condition that has reached epidemic proportions in North America.

The Philipinos employ the fruit extract to control fever, heal skin lesions and provide relief from sore muscles and aching joints.

Even Buddhist monks in Southeast Asia have kept records of its use for treating many different diseases.

Although the people from these countries have benefited from the medicinal uses of the Mangosteen for centuries, most of the world (especially North America) have never heard of it until now.

Available as a functional health beverage for the first time in North America in the fall of 2002, this well kept secret of nature is receiving rave reviews, praise and research from the medical community. With over 50 research studies from schools of pharmacy and schools of medicine around the world, modern medicine has only begun to discover the unlimited benefits this one single fruit has to offer.

Xanthones

With 210 known Xanthones in nature, over 40 have been discovered in this single fruit (no other fruit or vegetable has been found to have more than 8).

While most people know about the antioxidant benefits of Vitamins C and E, far fewer are aware of the incredibly potent antioxidant power of Xanthones. They are natural chemical substances that have recently won high praise from numerous scientists and researchers. Xanthones have been studied for their medicinal potential, since they demonstrate a number of pharmaceutical properties such as supporting microbiological balance, maintaining immune system health, promoting joint flexibility and providing positive mental support.

What’s remarkable is that the Mangosteen, not just the inner flesh, but the whole fruit, represents the single greatest known supply of these tremendously beneficial Xanthones found anywhere in nature. The pericarp, or rind, of the Mangosteen is particularly rich in Xanthones, which represent the next generation of powerful phytonutrients. The proprietary formulation (Xango) featuring the Mangosteen whole fruit puree, utilizing all the Xanthone-laden components of the fruit brings a wealth of incredible benefits to every system in the body!

As an Antioxidant

So, the question is, ‘how does the Xango product stack up in terms of antioxidant (anti-aging) ability?’ To answer this question, several products were sent to the WORLD EXPERT in antioxidant testing, Dr. Boxin Ou, PhD.

The test conducted is called the ORAC test. ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity. It measures the antioxidant ability/capacity of the product being tested. This test is also recognized by the USDA (US Dept. of Agriculture) and the AMA (American Medical Assoc.) as the ‘gold-standard’ for measuring antioxidant ability in both foods and supplements.

Here are the test results for 32 servings of each of the following products:

Product ORAC score

SeaSilver® 2,880

Tahitian Noni Juice® 5,280

Goji Juice T 12,499

Berry Young Juice® 31,552

Xango® 40,704

It’s also important to remember that the other products don’t have anywhere near the level of xanthones that Xango does. So while one product may have a very high ORAC rating, it’s not going to address the other health issues that Xango will – in addition to the amazing antioxidant ability.
