Management System—Class Dojo
This is a management system that helps students take more responsibility for their own behavior in the classroom. Rewards can be earned; consequences can, too.

3:10-3:55 Flooding (for Reading)
3:55-4:05 Clean-up and Dismissal
Communication
—Folders: Check your second grader’s backpack every night
—Planners: These will be filled out daily whether there is homework or not. Please
initial/sign the parent section every night. Your student will be held
accountable for showing you the planner and returning it to school each day.
—Class Dojo: Another way to communicate between school and home. Look for more
information in Second Grade Newsletters coming home each month.

Points of Interest:
*The second grade is continuing to use resources that were used in first grade. The reading/writing/language program is called CKLA which stands for Core Knowledge Language Arts. In math, however, we have a new program called GO Math! Both programs are challenging for, yet appealing to, our students and will help them grow as individuals.
*We will be using the D’Nealian (or Modern) Handwriting model. Cursive will begin 3rd qtr.
*Homework will be given almost daily in math and spelling. Also, if students have not used their time in class wisely or are absent, you can expect homework as well.
We are hoping to have a wonderful year!
Please fill out the attached sheets and return them to your child’s classroom teacher as soon as possible.
