Rules:

1. No food or drinks in the classroom unless the teacher okays it.

2. No CD players, MP3 players, or cell phones in the classroom.

3. No inappropriate language or horse play in the classroom.

4. Be respectful of all classroom property and other student’s belongings.

Consequences for Breaking the Rules:

1st Warning: Verbal

2nd Warning: Name on the Board

3rd Warning: One checkmarks – 15 minutes after school the following day.

4th Warning: Two checkmarks - 30 minutes after school the following day.

5th Warning: Three checkmarks – 7:00am detention the following day.

Parents will be called to explain why the student is staying after school.

Grades:

Grades will be updated every Friday. On Monday you will receive a report of what your grade is and any missing or late work.

Grading Scale:

100 – 96 = A

95 – 93 = A-

92 – 91 = B+

90 – 88 = B

87 – 86 = B-

85 – 84 = C+

83 – 80 = C

79 – 78 = C-

77 – 76 = D+

75 – 72 = D

71 – 70 = D-

69 – 0 = F

Your grade will consist of:

• Daily work

• Notebook

• Test/quizzes

Notebook:

I will collect your notebook before every grading period.

In your notebook these are the things/sections you must have:

• Title page – name and class

• Classroom Rules and Procedures

• Rubric

• Sections:

o Board work/Journal

o Notes

o Daily work

o Tests/quizzes

Procedure:

When entering the classroom:

1. Sit in your assigned seat.

2. Complete the board work assignment. This goes into the board work section of your notebook.

3. Wait quietly for further instructions.

To get your attention:

I will raise my hand. You should:

1. Put all things down

2. Eyes on the teacher

3. Raise your hand

4. Be quiet

5. Be still

6. Listen

Labeling Paper:

On the assignment, on the top right corner, put your

1. Name

2. Date

3. Class

4. Assignment

Homework:

1. You will have math homework every day.

2. I will not collect your homework every day.

3. Once a week I will collect your homework.

4. During the other days I will check to see if it is completed. During those days we will correct the homework as a class.

Handing in Homework:

1. Pass your homework to the right.

2. The person in the far right hand row will put the homework in the hand in try.

Leaving the Room:

1. You get one pass per quarter.

2. You can leave the last 15 minutes of class.

3. Ask me for permission.

4. Wait for me to give you the pass.

5. Before you leave, sign in the notebook your name, where to, time, and date.

6. When you return, sign in the notebook the time you returned.

Absent:

1. When you are absent, I will put all materials for the day(s) you missed in a folder labeled absent folder. The absent folder is between the pass out/hand in trays.

2. Your name will be written on the papers that you need to complete.

3. I will not get the papers for you. It is your responsibility to get your homework from the absent folder.

4. You also need to get the board work, journal questions, and notes from a friend.

5. You will have the number of days you missed, plus one more day to finish the assignments. If the assignments are not done by then, it will be considered late.

Late Assignments:

1. All late assignments will automatically lose five points.

2. If the assignment is worth five points, then it will lose 2.5 points.

3. All late work must be turned in the day of the chapter test or the assignment will receive a zero.

Tests/Quizzes:

1. Your desk must be cleared except for a writing utensil and other materials needed for the test.

2. There is no talking during a test.

3. If you are caught copying your test will be taken away and given a zero for the grade.

4. When you are done with the test, hand it in to me and find something to do quietly.

Materials to Class:

Bring to class a:

1. Binder (notebook)

2. Pencil/pen

3. Paper

4. Reading book

5. In the lab room, in the desk door on the bottom right hand side there is extra paper, pencils, and pens. If you forget to bring your materials to class or do not have any please get the materials from there. You do not need to ask.

Reading Books:

1. Bring a reading book to class every day.

2. Through out the year I will be doing a book check for extra credit.

3. If you are finished with the assignment for the day, please read your book for find something quietly to do.

Calculators:

1. If you need a calculator, please barrow one from the box.

2. When you are finished using it, please return it to the box.

3. If you need to take a calculator home fill out the information on the notepad and have me sign it. You must return the calculator to class the next day.

End of Class:

1. At the last 5 minutes of class, I will give you a few questions to answer.

2. This goes into the journal section of your notebook.

Dismissal from Class:

1. The bell will not dismiss you; I will.

2. You will be dismissed when everything is put away; everyone is in their seat, and sitting quietly.

Extra Credit:

All homework can be redone for full credit. To get full credit, write the correct answer in a different color pen.

All tests and quizzes can be redone for half credit. To get half credit, write the correct answer in a different color pen.

As a student I need to know the rules and procedure. Knowing the rules and procedure will make my classmates and me function to the best of our abilities.
