ETERNAL SCALES OF JUSTICE

The delinquencies of humanity have been stockpiling since creation. We're living for ourselves; we're living for sensation, Causing an imbalance in the eternal scales of justice.

We offer an occasional cry or unnecessary sacrifices, We employ countless rules and senseless rituals, man's devices, Never moving the eternal scales of justice.

There is a holy God, who cannot bear to look upon our actions, We are an unruly people bent on fragile satisfactions, Each of us adding weight to the eternal scales of justice.

We practice cyclical patterns which have no end to sorrow, We are always looking, hoping, gambling on tomorrow, Giving no attention to the eternal scales of justice.

But, an unexplained phenomenon draws a vertical line, The mercy of a mighty God extends its way through time, Crossing the beam of the eternal scales of justice.

And then standing on the line, hanging on the beam, The mercy of a holy God made a way for us to be redeemed, And suddenly the weight is shifted on the eternal scales of justice.

Jesus Christ, God's only Son, for sin was crucified, By the mercy of a loving God we are justified, Innocent the verdict, measured on the eternal scales of justice.
