Biography Board Project

What is a Biography Board?

A biography board is a poster that focuses on an important individual in history. It is a way to celebrate the accomplishments of both major figures and the “unheard voices” in history.

Directions:

1. Chose one famous person from the list of names.

2. Include the following on your poster (it must be bigger than an 8” by 10” piece of paper):

a. Title (name of the person) – 2 points

b. A focus question regarding the person’s accomplishments to get the reader’s attention. – 2 points

c. Two illustrations or pictures (in color). One MUST be of the person and the other MUST relate to an event that made the person famous. – 8 points (4 points each)

d. Two COMPLETE sentence captions for the pictures. In your own words! 8 points (4 points each)

e. Two quotations. These are actual words from the person. They can be from a book, poem, etc. that the person wrote. The quotes MUST relate to something about the person and his or her accomplishments. – 8 points (4 points each)

f. A timeline of important events in the person’s life. There MUST be at least 5 events on the timeline (not including birth and death). – 15 points

g. One paragraph (no less than 6 sentences) describing why the person is so significant to history. – 15 points

h. Bibliography (on back and in the correct format). You MUST have at least three sources. They can all be from the Internet. – 5 points

3. All information on the biography board MUST be TYPED.

4. Be sure to proofread your work. Grammar and spelling count. Also, all of your work, except for the quotes, MUST be in your own words.

These are minimum requirements. As always, take pride in your work. Be creative. This is a tribute to an important person in history. Think about how you can best honor that person. Effort = 5 points
