? Submit your January?December payroll report by mid-January. ? Deduct, remit and report contributions on all pensionable salary using

the current maximum deductible pension contribution limit set by Canada Revenue Agency. Find information on limits and how to remit contributions on the secure employer site under E-Remittance.

February

? Register for the one-day Comprehensive Training workshop on the secure employer site under Employer Education.

? Distribute pension adjustment statements by February 28.

April

? Submit Active Members with No Service Events in Over One Year Report.

? Register for the one-day Comprehensive Training workshop on the secure employer site under Employer Education.

May

? Attend the Employer Council. For information or to join council, go to the secure employer site > Employer Council (left margin).

June

? Submit Invalid Union Affiliation and Bargaining Association Report. ? Distribute pension adjustment statements by the end of June. ? Distribute Report to Members and member's benefit statements

by June 28. The Pension Benefits Standards Act requires that each member receives this pension information within 180 days after the fiscal year-end. Find more information in the Employer Newsletter on the employer website under News.

? Encourage your employees to read the annual report available on the plan website and learn more about the plan.

? Validate your long-term disability policies using the LTD Policy Validation tool.

? Attend the Municipal Pension Plan Annual General Meeting. Find more information in the Employer Newsletter on the employer website under News.

? Register for the Payroll Reporting Refresher webinar on the secure employer site under Employer Education.

? Encourage your employees to read the Pension Corporation's annual report available on the corporate website.

? Provide income tax business numbers, Member's Benefit Statement sort details and employer contact information updates through Message Board.

November

? Attend the Employer Council. For information or to join council, go to the secure employer site > Employer Council (left margin).

? For employees who turn 71 during the year, stop collecting and remitting contributions. Submit their information using the Employee Information at Termination/Retirement tool found on the secure employer site under Employer Reporting. Then, submit final salary, service and contributions up to November 30 on your payroll report.

? Review and confirm Contact Confirmation for Employers form by the first week of November.

? Register for the Payroll Reporting Refresher webinar on the secure employer site under Employer Education.

December

? Review and confirm your Long-term Disability Confirmation Report. ? Distribute amended pension adjustment statements by the end

of December. ? Submit Certification of Fire and Police Members Report by

mid-December.

What to do each month

? Set calendar reminders so you allocate enough time to work on your pension tasks.

? Remit employee and employer contributions; post-date payment, if needed. For more information, consult the E-Remittance How-to.

? Share information about the plan with your new employees. Guide for plan members contains valuable information that will help your employees learn about plan membership and their pension. You must provide your employees with a copy of the guide as a requirement of the Pension Benefits Standards Act at least 30 days before they are eligible

to join the plan, or on or before their employment date when they are eligible to join the plan within 30 days after starting work. ?? To provide a paper copy, click the print icon at the bottom of each

web page. ?? To provide an electronic copy, you must first obtain the employee's

consent. After they have provided consent to receive an electronic copy, you must provide clear, written instructions to the employee that tells them: >> where and how they can access the guide on the plan site

(see below) >> that if they request a paper copy at any time, you will provide

it to them ?? The guide can be accessed in two ways:

>> from the plan site, enter the search term "guide for plan members" > Guide for plan members

>> from the secure employer website under the Employer Reporting section, click More > Plan Member Record Electronic Form

? Enrol new members into the correct plan group MPP group 5 within 30 days of them being eligible to join the plan. Find more information in section 7.4.1 of the Employer Instruction Manual. Remember to let us know if new members are already contributing to the plan; go to the secure employer site and, under Employer Reporting, click More > Plan Member Record Electronic Form.

? Submit new or updated employee contact information, including name and address changes, as you receive them.

? Use the Employee Information at Termination/Retirement tool to submit end of employment and retirement information. Find more information in section 3 of the Employer Instruction Manual.

? Continue reporting service and salary for employees who reach 35 years of pensionable service. You and your employee no longer need to pay and deduct contributions.

? Update your Web Services users if you need to add or change your employees' access. For more information, consult the Employer Web Services E-Handbook.

? Let us know about the death of an employee. Find more information in section 5.2 of the Employer Instruction Manual.

? Let us know if you would like to receive electronic pension adjustment statements.

? Encourage your employees to buy service for an approved leave of absence, past service, non-contributory service or arrears.

? Let us know if you would like to host a member education workshop. Find more information in the Employer Newsletter on the employer website under News.
