Plant ManagerThis position is responsible the daily operations of a precast prestress concrete manufacturing/ fabrication plant. All plant personnel report either directly, in-directly, or by dotted line to the plant manager. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Operations.Essential Job FunctionsPlant ManagementManage and supervise all plant operations with the authority to strictly enforce the Company’s policies and procedures. Create and maintain a work environment that promotes the top down emphasis on production of a quality product in a safe and timely manner.Generates monthly work-in progress report and adjust job cost estimates as necessary.Coordinates monthly production schedule with master schedule.Monitor plant overhead expenses.Ensure the coordination of efforts between departments.Ensure the accurate accounting of all inventories and closely monitor any deviations from the estimated inventory.Support and enforce the use of the functional organization and enforce the use of operating policies and procedures.Delegate tasks to members of the management team and monitor the delegated tasks. Give supervisors the authority to accomplish the tasks.SafetyCommunicate and endorse the company safety program through regularly scheduled meetings.Initiate and embrace a safety culture where all employees feel comfortable communicating safety concerns. QualityEnsure that all quality problems are acted upon and the results are being monitored.Train staff to look for and report quality issues in all phases of product life at plant, i.e. form setting, pouring, curing, finishing, storage, loading, shipping.Human ResourcesMake key personnel decisions including but not limited to hiring, promotion, team building, coaching, discipline, and termination.Evaluate the performance of direct reports and review their evaluations of their subordinates at least annually.Maintain a workforce that is compliant with company policies regarding equal employment opportunity and does not tolerate discrimination and/or workplace harassment.Ensure that all employees read, understand and sign their job description or duties list.OtherServe as Company representative for the plant when working with Government agencies such as OSHA, EPA, Division of Water, Division of Air Quality, Workers Compensation Board, Division of Unemployment Insurance, local zoning boards, etc. Must understand the impact of these agencies on the company operations.Set goals and plan a course of action for the plant. Have a vision of the plant’s future.Maintain cordial customer, community and public relations either personally or through key management team members.Purchase material, equipment, maintenance, tools and supplies as necessary within budgetary guidelines.QualificationsEducationCollege degree in business, civil engineering, or a related field preferred.Experience5 or more years experience as Manager of an equivalent prestressed concrete products manufacturer or equivalent operationKnowledgeComplete start to finish understanding of the prestressed and precast concrete processes in the manufacturing of productGood working knowledge of concrete structuresGood working knowledge of structural steel and rebarKnowledge of equipment used in the manufacturing process of prestressed concrete productsSkillsExcellent communication skills with both internal and external customersComputer skills including Microsoft Office programs and production system softwareExcellent organizational skillsAbilitiesMust possess the ability to read, write and speak English in this positionAbility to understand basic arithmetic and measurementsAbility to read shop drawingsAbility to multi-task and coordinate the management of several departmentsAbility to recognize and develop talent within the organizationAbility to read and understand financial and production reportingTrainingCertifications in ACI, PCI, OSHA and/or Lean Manufacturing a plusPhysical DemandsSit or stand as neededWalking primarily on a level surfaceClimbing, bending and lifting as required in the demonstration of certain job tasksWork EnvironmentTypical office environment approximately 50 – 60% of work week.Daily exposure to both outdoor and indoor manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats and steel toe boots. ................
