Regarding her art abilities, Megan has mostly been influenced by family. There are many artists in her family; her mother, grandparents and sister all have artistic abilities and interests. “Ever since I was little, my mom had me drawing and painting in all different styles,” Megan said. “My grandparents also encouraged me to stay creative by teaching me hands-on skills. My sister and I enjoy challenging ourselves with new art projects that we have not tried before. She also encourages me as an artist.”Megan’s interest in art strengthened in high school, especially after she started entering her art in contests and art shows. One memorable moment that inspired her was when she won an?Arts Council of Greater Lansing — Young Creatives Billboard contest. “It was cool to have family and friends come to me and say that they saw my art up on a billboard,” Megan said. Megan is interested in going to college to become a registered nurse. She also wants to continue to participate in sports in college. She hopes to attend Arizona State University, where she can join the triathlon team. Right now, she competes in triathlons with her dad and hopes to take the sport to the next level. During the school year, she is also a swim team captain and runs track. Sports have been very important to Megan, but between the busy schedules, she likes the time to sit down and draw. Art is a hobby that she plans on doing for the rest of her life.### ................
