4343400-80010000JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATIONJOB TITLE: Communications Assistant (Digital)RESPONSIBLE TO: Online and Internal Communications ManagerGRADE: Level BHOURS: 37 per weekPURPOSE OF POST:To provide professional and effective administrative assistance to the Corporate Affairs Directorate.To contribute to the Corporate Affairs role of:providing sound corporate governance and effective business and corporate planning and reporting; safeguarding and promoting the good corporate reputation of the ICO;raising awareness of information rights and obligations;championing the creation and sharing of knowledge.Help to develop a culture of effective communications in the ICO. The Corporate Affairs department provides a wide range of communications services for the ICO. Team members must be able to perform a variety of tasks and support each other to ensure all essential tasks are completed. Team members must be flexible and be able to respond quickly.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESUpdate content on website and other digital channels (multiple updates per day).Monitor and update the website and other digital channels to help ensure compliance with accessibility guidelines.First point of contact for internal and external web users.Daily response to website feedback and updates.Support internal communications eg by intranet updates.Draft and edit accurate, good quality copy.Monitor communications channels eg publication stock, website search engine performance and download time.Manage domain names purchase and registration.Build, develop and maintain metadata.Manage small projects and events and support the delivery of larger projects and events, for example web development, design, campaigns, research.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES (AS REQUIRED)Provide an effective admin service including:Telephone cover for the directorate - including the press office, message taking and dealing with straightforward queries as appropriate.Photocopying and faxing.Incoming post, faxes and emails dealt with and distributed accordingly; routine correspondence responded to on behalf of the directorate.Staff travel and accommodation booked as required.
